Just a question of the bang for the buck of these two. If I were to get just a single GTX 260 vs GTX 280 would there be any big differences in gameplay and longevity before I have to replace them Also, the same question if I ran SLI for both of them. Just curious because the difference between two SLI 260;s is nearly 300 dollars vs the GTX 280's.

If you are talking about the GTX 260 192, the difference is actually quite noticeable. But with the GTX 260 216, the difference is minimal.

Longevity depends on the user. If you demand high resolutions and max settings on the latest games, longevity of any card is rather short.

Since both the GTX 260 and GTX 280 are getting replaced, they have dramatically went down in price. If you went shopping, you could have picked a a GTX 280 for under $300 or a GTX 260 216 for under $200.

Honestly if the GTX 285 is gonna be like the new 55NM GTX 260s in the fact that clocks stay the same as the originals, then id say its a great time to pick a GTX 280...

I assume it wont be like that though. Why would they give it a new number since the new 260s didnt get new numbers. But still...the difference wont be great either way.

Nvidia isn't rebranding the 55nm GTX 260 because they want to get rid of their huge stockpile of GTX 260s.
