I noticed a few changes in the configuration page, and I was wondering why there are doubles for the SLI GTX 285s (in dual and triple SLI) and how triple SLI 285s compares to quad SLI 295s?

in some games 3 x 285 is like 5fps faster then 2 x 295 in some games 3 x 285 is the same as 2 x 295
in some games 3 x 285 is like 5fps slower then 2 x 295

dual sli and tri sli 285 is something people order just like any other card like the 275, 280, 260, its just an option, but remember you are not limited to what is on the config page, you can request what ever you want

ofcourse all this depends on the resolution, what resolution you gonna be gaming at?

Sorry I wasn't clear. My main question was if there are different "versions" of the GTX285.

On the config page there two options for dual SLI 285s and two options for triple SLI 285s.

I run dual 22" monitors at 1680x1050. Unfortunately, I somewhat recently completed a build for my PC before I discovered digitalstorm and regretfully ran out of cash to spend. :[[

I do however plan to get a DS system when the gulftown cpus are released... :D hopefully by then the Vertex 2 will be around...

We can hope right?

well gulftown is suppose to be H1 of 2010 so get ready I'm upgrading to that when it comes out also

the way the prices are going I think vertex 2 price is going to be ridiculous.

at 1600 x 1200 1 x 275 will run your monitor just great FYI.

the reason for 2 different version is because looks like DS is offering the original 1GB version of the card and the new 2GB version of the card.

Oh right, duh.

That was stupid... could have saw the 1GB and 2GB thing myself. Thanks though.

Yeah, I was just asking about the 285s v the 295s for the sake of knowing I guess. I'm sure newer and improved cards will be out by the time I order my system in the future...

Buy now...and UPGRADE later??  The "accountant" in me says "wait...w-a-i-t"...if you divide the cost of the "gulftown" by the number of months till it comes out...that's how much money you'd be saving each and every month--like getting a discount?!  Besides, (I doubt DS gives you a trade-in value) soooo....what are you going to do with the chip gulftown replaces if you upgrade??  Of course, the gaming side (of me) responds...you've waited long enough--you deserve it...you've saved for it...get it NOW (let tomorrow take care of itself)  Shocked   Decisions...decisions...  Big%20smile

So would the GTX 285 2G be worth the money? Having 2G of memory on a card is pretty sweet.

for 1900 x 1200 1 x 295 is best if most games he plays support sli. if not then go 2 x 275 and get the best of both worlds.

I did not understand this? If one played games that do not support SLI, it would be better to have the 275, as it will give higher frame rates that a 295, not by much, but some lol

what is there to not understand? the 275 will give better performance then 295 with internal sli disabled, OC the 275 and you are looking at pretty much the performance of a 285 at a price of 275.

yes it does but not by much and with a 295 you only use one PCI slot and can go quad sli if needed. lol I just woke-up and have not had my coffee yet so I'm with you on that note
