Hello everyone, well I am sending my system back to DS for like the 5th or 6th time for the 5 months I have owned this PC. They are going to remove the liquid cooling on the 3 GPUs and return to stock. I am not sure what they are going to do here (do they put the GPUs back in their original cases with the fan and stock heatsink?) because with the DS liquid cooling the GPUs are out of their black cases with  little fan and attached to a hose to the radiater. So now they will be easy for me to change in my wheelchair instead of sending it back everytime I have a GPU problem. Here is my question DS is refunding me the costs of the liquid cooling on the 3 GPUs I have (not sure how much that is yet) but I have been thinking I want to upgrade to 2 GTX-295s or 3 GTX- 285s instead of my 3 GTX- 280s if one of my GPUs is bad and DS has to replace one ( I believe I have a bad GPU right now) So first should I do it? Is the 295 that much better to even consider this for the price. And if I do should I go with the EVGA GTX-295 ( I have the EVGA 790i FTW digital pwn mombo) or the XFX 295? I am leaning towards EVGA because I have thier mombo.I want to upgrade because I am just kinda bumbed I paid all this money $9500 back in August and my whole system is outdated before I have even had a chance to enjoy it because I am always sending it back for repairs I would at least like to have my GPUs current technology (that is if its ever  running long enough for me to enjoy) Let me add though DS has been VERY NICE in working with me  to get my system running at 100% (they have paid for a crate, they updated my mombo, changed parts and all at no charge). It still doesnt change the fact  that DS has had my system almost as much as me these past 5 months and everytime I talk to someone about this (outside here) they tell me I am a sucker  to have paid what I did to DS for my PC. Does anyone here think that knowing my situation? I still dont know what to think about DS as a whole. They do have the best customer service I have ever dealt with but it doesnt change the fact I have an expensive paper weight right now. Has anyone else here gone through what I am going through right now? ($9500 PC having to be sent back 5 to 6 times over a 6 month period?) Is shipping really that bad because DS  is saying its all the shipping dept. fault. I am just frustrated guys and wondering what the forum really thinks about my ordeal with this cursed PC. Thanks, Guy Preston

I have gone thru what you have been thru PG1, both with Dell and when I used to build my own pcs, atcually more when I build my own pcs cause parts tent to go bad.

now your 3 x 280 are powerfull enough to handle anything, I would recommend evga.

but to answer your 295 question, what games do you play mainly?

Well something that I have noticed really is the more bleeding edge a system is more problems that come from it.

I think after going through 2-3 shipments back to them they should have started from scratch that is something that I would have asked for atleast. Other than that I do not think you wasted your money with DS, just because things are bound to go wrong, some get lucky some dont, I have been waiting since mid Jan for my system and right now went into Stage 7, but the thing to notice is when things do go wrong what do they do, if you are happy with the customer service and the things that they have done for you then do not worry about what others say.

And I got 2XGTX 295s so I will let you know in 2 weeks how they perform Ouch
Why do they blame me for all their little failings? They use my name as if I spent my entire day sitting on their shoulders, forcing them to commit acts they would otherwise find repulsive - Lucifer

Just as a heads up, this is in the wrong area. This should be in the "Hardware Discussion" forum.

Second, paraguy1, thank you for the great praise on the service, and we do feel your pain. As I did mention, we feel that the sheer weight of the three video cards and their heavy water cooling blocks are one of the main culprits behind all of this. Once the unit does arrive back, we are going to remove the liquid cooling on the blocks, credit you the difference, which you could apply to upgrade to the GTX 295's with no re-stock fees.

This should take care of everything and get you up and running.

what was the problem exactly? I also asked a similar question in Bill's thread but he gave me the answer that LCing w/ my setup would ensure no problems.

Yet, here it's the opposite it would seem. I have LCing for 3 GPUs, 3x285/965 i7, 6GB 1866, 2x300 GB raptor, Asus ramp 2 mobo, etc.

should I be worried? :X My rig is in Stage 5 atm. im spending a lot on this too.

You will be fine.. The x58 platform is alot more stable then the 790i.

Only thing you might have to do is make sure the gpus are properly seated before you boot up.

Only problem with the gpus being liquid cooled is it adds to there weight, when ups/fed ex is careless it is very tough for them to stay seated properly because the waterblocks are heavy to begin with.

We ship hundreds of systems with liquid cooling on three video cards. They arrive safely. It's only a small portion that may have problems. Those are the ones that get mishandled by FedEx/UPS.

If it ever was a big issue, we would of stopped offering video card liquid cooling to our customers.

So is 2x GTX-295s better than 3x GTX-280s? Because if I can get better peformance with the 2x GTX- 295s. It would be once less GPU that can go bad.

Ya it sounds as though I will just keep my 3x GTX- 280s. I would think about 3x GTX-285s though maybe. So now I am thinking about a paint job (black outside blue inside) is that possible or is that something that has to be done at the start? That would be the ultimate getting the3x 285s and painting my system, have DS call me to see how much it would take to make that happen with my refund credit. If its too much I will just keep what I have.    I just hope I dont have any cooling problems when they remove the liquid cooling on the GPUs and put them back to the stock heatsinks. I just want my PC to be problem free.....and be a super dream system. I paid a ton of money for it ($9500) so its not alot to ask. Please DS do your best to make this happen for me I have been very patient (6 months) I get sick to my stomach everytime I look at the empty space where my new dream system is suppose to be sitting. Thanks Alex, they picked up my system yesturday and the UPS guy said it looks like my crate is getting beat up quite a bit and may need some repairs. They must really be throwing that crate around to damage it like it is....geez cant they read its fragile? Guy

There's got to be a way to make the shipping safer. Not from DS's end, because the crate is a good idea. It's the delivery that's knocking all that stuff around.
