There is aboslutely no point to the consumer with these cards. The only reason they have them is so they can claim with advertising that they have the worlds fastest gpu.

cool card i guess but like said before, your really boned when it comes to games that don't support sli being that youll then be running a 1 under clocked gtx 580. 2 580's in SLI or even 2 570's in SLI makes more sense to me.

They cant' do much with it, cause of heat, also after that I'm sure 575 and 585 cards or something like that will come out that will smoke it in sli.
these dual cards are just not a good idea. |

But the problem is that they don't have the best performance, so there is nothing to brag about there, so I don't see what there is to brag about?

They are not really a single card, they are sli, one can't compare 2 gpus to one gpu just because they are all on one card.
Single card performance is a power a single gpu can produce, the rest is gimmick marketing, just like how they call it a 3GB vram card, but its really confined to 1.5GB. Just because they market it that way, does not mean reality changes with it, in games that sli does not come into play, like wow, 590 falls behind the 580, so even if we were to forget that its using sli for 2 gpus, its still not the best card, cause in many mmo games it looses to the 580. I know what you mean but at the end to compare the 590 to a single card, is to compare 2 to 1. |

Ive never liked dual gpu cards, I bought into the entire internal sli and got shafted. The 7950gx2 I bought was awful, performance wise and the heat it put out was ridiculous.
I hope kelper brings some nice single gpu cards, my gtx 285s are getting quite dated.... |

I understand that folks are going to criticize the card but without actually owning one and putting it to the test results in arguements based on numbers and becnmark tests and not pratical experience. I have a GTX590 Classified and I love it. I came from having GTX 285's in SLi and I still think nVidia and SLi is the way to go but I love my 590. It plays very well and is solid as a rock. I plan to purchase a second one and put them into SLi, but until then this card rocks all on it's own.

Bullsh*t. I don't have to go buy a GPU to benchmark personally when I can look up and compile benchmark scores from 50+ reviews online from others who have already done the leg work. Don't bother bringing up how something "feels" to you, that's ambiguous and opinionated guesswork, what's the point if you're not going to bring any numbers to the table to compare to? Lilim's i7 920 "feels" incredibly fast and I love it, but I know for a fact it gets beat handily by a Sandy Bridge CPU. Her SLI 480s "feel" incredibly fast and I love them, but I know they get beat by SLI 580s and Crossfire 6970s. Etc. The performance of these things are very easily measured and compared, guesswork need not apply. And besides you don't even have any similar GPU setup like SLI 570s or SLI 580s to compare your 590 to, so who are you to talk about "practical experience" when you have no frame of reference of which to judge it against? Keep in mind the 590 is a DUAL GPU video card, it is quite literately two very downclocked 580s mashed together on a single PCB board in SLI. You don't have to connect an SLI bridge, it's just built right in. This is a very niche product, it gives the benefit of being able to run two GPUs with just one PCIe lane so it can be an option for someone who absolutely does not have an extra PCIe lane to spare, but it has the downsides of being louder, running hotter, and runner slower than two of the real thing, two normal 580s. In fact the GPUs on a 590s run so warm and had to be downclocked so much that not only does dual SLI 580s outperform one, but so does dual SLI 570s and even dual SLI 480s. So SLI 480/570/580s will run cooler, run quieter, cost less, and perform better. These are not "feelings," these are easily proven facts, go look up the benchmarks anywhere. It's the same deal as the old GTX 295, another dual GPU card, normal dual SLI 275s or dual SLI 285s outperformed, ran cooler, quieter, etc. That's not to say the 590 or 295 are complete and utter trash and won't give you pretty good FPS performance in games, it's just that they don't do it nearly as well as the normal preferred SLI setup. Even worse is that because the 590 is a dual GPU card, that means trying to run two 590s in SLI is four GPUs, or quad SLI. And unfortunately quad SLI scaling currently sucks for gaming, and actually performs worse than tri SLI of similar GPUs. For instance, tri SLI 570/580s outperform quad SLI 590s, sadly. So stay away from getting a second 590, that wouldn't be any use to you unless you were using them for Folding@home or something that can leverage the CUDA, as gaming can't. |

At the end anybodys tri sli 570/580 will beat your quad sli 590, thats enough for me to not waste my money on it, I'm not sure why it was not enough for you.
You went from sli 285 which is like one 570/580, so ofcourse you like what you see now, but if you came from sli 570/580 you would not be saying that. Also when people with tri sli do better then your quad sli, you will see why 590 was not a good choice. what mobo do you have? you are aware that the 590 is in internal sli and you are limited to 1.5GB of vram right? |
