Hello--

Just got a pair of ASUS  GTX 590s to put into my D.S. system.

When I put one card  by itself into any PCI-E slot it works fine.
Likewise with the other card.

Now (you guessed it) when I put both cards in at the same time
the green NVidia logo starts blinking on one of the cards.

This blinking supposedly indicates an inadequate power supply.

However,  my p.s. is a Silverstone SST-ST1500 1500 watt unit that
is Quad-SLI certified.  It drove my previous pair of Radeon 5970s,
which draw about the same amount of current, without problems.

I have a spare Corsair 1000 w p.s. and used that to power one of the
cards w/the same result.  So  I don't think it's the p.s.??

On the other hand, could the problem be the ASUS-supplied
2 x 6-8 pin adapters I am using to connect to the 590s?  I didn't
need these with the 5970s and have heard they could be problematic.

The mobo is an ASUS P6X58D Premium SLI which talks about all
kinds of multiple GPU/SLI configurations.  Hopefully this isn't
the problem?

The processor is a 980X E.E. and the video  drivers are 270.61
(couldn't get the 275.33s to install).  OS is Win 7 64 bit.

Any thoughts would be  appreciated (well, please no flames from AMD
fanboys about the Radeons--I'm a 60 year old man so take
it easy on me, okay!?!).

Thanks,

beluga25, I can't give you any specifics on how to fix your problem but I would recommend you go to www.geforce.com. Click on Optimize and scroll down to the following article: How to Build a Quad SLI Gaming Rig. The mobo you have is not listed as one of the ones that can handle two GTX 590's.
Hope that might get you started. I'm sure you'll also get input from others on this site too.

Yeah,  I was wondering about that.  I did see the list before
and my case and p.s. are on it, but not the mobo. That
had me wondering, but the mobo manual shows pictures
of three GPUs connected w/ 2 SLIbridges and talks about
an onboard video controller,  and is called a "Premium SLI" board,
so don't know what to make of it.  Will have to wait til business
hours to  see if anyone responds to my e-mails.

Thanks much, Heritage 1550.

looking at the specs on your power supply i see it has 4 6 pin connectors and 4 6/8 connectors. If your not using the 6/8 connectors try those without the the adapters. The 6/8 pins have an addition 2 pins that snap onto to make a 8 pin. Looks like this
