So as some of you know from my previous post my gtx 580 has hit the end of its life, all efforts have failed to bring it back from the grave! Including replacing the thermal paste! The temps just refuse to return to a healthy state! So as soon as tax time hits I will be going after a gtx 680 but I am torn between brands and designs. I am used to evga products but my friend is telling me to go for a none reference style cooling to get healthy temps! He is saying all cards vary slightly in temps, and if I go with reference i'm not getting any headroom encase I get one that runs slightly hotter. I believe he is right, just from my own research but evga only offers reference! Except for their hydro copper and I saw one with two fans, but it isn't claiming to run much cooler. What do you guys think? Here is the one I am kind of leaning towards MSI Twin Frozer

You definitely could, however just so you know, the 600 series of NVIDIA graphic cards are based on their new Kepler design which runs cooler than the 500 series so thermals won't be a big issue.

Well ive watched alot of youtube videos and it seams to me its not much of improvement, people are still running full load around 80c on reference cooling designs. Where'as none reference are running around 65c full load.

Just my opinion, but you could go with the EVGA gtx670 FTW card for $100-150 cheaper than the 680 at Newegg. Its the same performance as the 680, has a 680 like pwb meaning more robust and the better 680 radial cooling fan and larger rear exhaust ports for cooling.
MSI and others also have dual fan gtx670 boards for quieter and better cooling for alot less than similar gtx680. |

The MSI 670 blue one with twin fans is outstanding. Beats most stock 680s.Maximum PC did a review and gave it a 9+. My friend bought one and loves it . Its real quiet and it lights up blue.It comes with 2 games for $375.00 from newegg plus shipping.
