the 4870x2 is a dual card like the 295 GTX, you can't compare it with the 285, in games that don't support sli or crossfire 285 will win but in games that do support sli the 4870x2 and 295 GTX will win.
between 4870x2 and 295 GTX, 295 GTX will win. 2 x 275 gtx will beat both 4870x2 and 295 GTX whether the games support sli or not. of course all of the above will depend on your resolution, if they all give you 60 fps in a game then you won't be able to notice the difference to begin with. I thought the 285 was dual-core gpu? But anyway, it really depends on the game and the game manufacturer along with your resolution. Generally, games that have that annoying Nvidia logo somewhere on the box will probably work better with nvidia.

na 285 is a single core and the funny thing is that its only like 4 fps better then the 275 GTX in most games, yet it cost so much more, which the reason you see us recommend the 275 most times cause for $230 - $250 its a great deal.

that also depends... i have the 4870x2 and i usually see 60+ FPS in Dalaran, (WoW) the normal there is 30-45. elsewhere however i've seen 300+, WoW doesnt support SLI or Crossfire yet ive never seen that from others. Of course in retrospect, If nVidia used DDR5 like ATI does, and was less costly, AMD wouldnt have a graphics department.
