AMD is the better company their just suffering backlash from intels scam at buying companys loyalty. They already power the world top supercomputer and have the best graphics cards on the market. And since their 6 core processors the istanbuls already on the market and selling at the same price as intels i7 extreme edition they have basically cut into intels profits. Normal ppl are barely buying i7's, and those who just got an i7 in the last year dont want or need another processor, theirs nothing that really requires 4 cores so 6 cores is even more unecessary, intels  going to have an extremely high price in order to  compete with the instanbuls much lower price, and the majority wont be able to afford it so intels in trouble, the only pps who will get the gulftown are power crazed gamers who car more about the brand name of their computer vs what they actually need, overclockers, and the rich. AMD's back on the rise it'll be a while for they match intel head to head but it will happen soon. AMD all the way

there are plenty of apps that use 6 cores. amd does not do 8 threads and that in itself will give better performance.

amd is not a better company IMO, their graphic cards are top only for 3 to 4 month out of the year, the rest of the 8 month of the year nvidia is has had the top card and this year will not be any different.

istanbul is a server cpu and needs a server mobo to run, servers are not the best and fastest platform for gaming and such.
