I am just wondering if the new H70 is better than the asetek stage 2 cooler, which I already know that many of you on the forums do not recommend.

eh, asetek makes both, so id imagine the difference is little more than brand, but the noctua is still the best overall unless you go stage 4 and up in my view:
4ghz (3.9) is the max dso will overclock for free, even midrange water builds get only up to 4.5 ISH .. the range between these two will show practically no difference in your computer use for gaming and most other uses short of maybe video rendering.. which hopefully is being done on cuda if you are serious about it

tldr version: noctua cools to the top of the effective range quietly, no reason to look elsewhere at this point

They are the same I believe, just different brands. Elsewhere besides the DS community, they are recommended like hot cakes it's surprising. The only positive things I see from the H70 are installation is a breeze and saves up room. I would love to get a genuine liquid cooling system, but for personal reasons it wouldn't be good for me. The H70 is a possibilty for me in the future.

IMHO the H70 lost any advantage that those self contained H2O units had. With the thick Radiator and 2 fans (you need to have both fans) it becomes cramped in that area. Now it's still less weight on the mobo but unless you are going to lan partys, so what. I'd just get the promilatech megahalems, Noctua NH-D14, venomous x, w/ some gentle typhoon fans (noctua excluded). You'll cool just as well w/ less noise. Or just do a real h20 cooling. Other forums do seem to like the H70/H50 units and they seem fine but high end air seems better IMHO.

AndydViking, well said.
The H70 is expensive, cools as well as the good air coolers... makes zero sense. It is expensive enough that I have seen many build water cooling systems for the same price, and beat the H70 by a land slide.

While I was looking at the upgrade center I noticed that DS sells swiftech water blocks are the pumps and radiators they use in the higher stage LCS also swiftech? I was originally going to have a swiftech kit shipped to DS for my rig.

Hi there,

Just wanted to pop in and see if I can clear up any confusion between the Asetek and Corsair liquid coolers. The Corsair H70 is the same cooler as the Asetek 570LC and the Corsair H50 is the same cooler as the 550LC.

I'm not going to argue that these coolers outperform high end custom liquid cooling setups, but for many people they are a great alternative to a large air cooler. If you have any questions or comments feel free to send them my way. Take care,

-Zack (Asetek)

and what difference does it make what size the cooler is? the noctua u12p fits in all of the cases currently offered except maybe the 2-3 lowest on the list
