9/25/07 - The Die is Cast

"Before this war is over, I am going to kill you."-Mel Gibson, notable thrasher of red coats

In response to comments made on the PC Gamer Podcast 100th Episode Spectacular regarding cover positioning on the PC Gamer Wikipedia page, our subordinates over at PC Gamer UK (pronounced “PC Gamer Uck”) issued a response on September 24 accepting our generous offer to settle our differences by beating their asses (or “arses”) down in a match of Valve’s latest and greatest, Team Fortress 2. Like our forefathers before us, we vow to defeat the oppressive British as they march comically side-by-side through the map, and drive them back across the sea. This is not for the independence of one or two magazines, this is for the independence of an entire nation! An American nation!

Our terms: The battle will commence promptly at 10AM PST/6PM BST on October 19, 2007 (to allow time for both teams to finish their magazines and talk ample trash), hosted on a neutral, centrally-located server, preferably on the US east coast. Eight staff members and/or writers from each magazine will face off on ctf_2fort. The settings: 30 minutes per round; first to three intel captures; friendly fire on. To prevent flukes, we propose the winner be decided by the best of three matches.

About PC Gamer
PC Gamer is the world’s best-selling computer games magazine. Known to insiders as PCG 2.0, it is a vast improvement over the flawed 1.0 version. The critically acclaimed PC Gamer Podcast recently celebrated its landmark 100th episode.

About PC Gamer UK

PC Gamer sUcK is published on a small, sunless island in the Atlantic. It contains frequent spelling errors due to a compulsive overuse of the letter U, and their podcasts are infrequent.
