Build 794366

Hey guys its solidus again. I was wondering on your take on this config.

My rez is 2560x1440

i would like to know if the i5 processor and 16gb of ram here will bog down anywhere for the 680 4gb gpu.

or should i just spend the 180 bucks more and get the i7.

i will only be running the 1 monitor and want to be able to max all games at 60fps. I nearly do now with my build atm with 2x 6970s with an i7 930 and 12gb ram at 1333.

This is what i have been on the fence about for most of the month. Would the i7 with hyperthreading really help?

Also i will be stage 1 clocking the cpu's to 4.0-4.4

thanku again.

An i5 performs as well as a i7 in gaming, for the most part, what kind of games do you play,if you maxing most games now at your desired frame rate the next gen of intel processors are not extremely far away so you might be able to wait and save more and get something better,if your current rig can last you until then.Games don't currently take advantage of hyper threading from what I understand. An i7 would be better for rendering if you do any productivity work.

i play, BF3,Crysis3 mostly. those are the two most demanding out their atm. I do play other games but i bench mark my ablilities with those two games. I max 60fps on Bf3 easy on Ultra, but on C3 i mabe get around 45fps on high and medium settings even lowering my Res to 1920x1200. I do understand that C3 is not optimized well. Even the 690 and titan crowd are having problems... lol those dam ropes.

i wont be doing much with the comp besides gaming, music, internet, mabe a little work, which is no more than powerpoint or word,

my bro is running an i5 with an sli 680 and he swears buy it.

my current rig should last until the new awesome releases, or i might try and kill it with fire,,, alienware.... blech.

I think you will be fine with the i5 since you won't be doing any heavy work.

Lol.Crysis3 is optimized for amd,but at 2560x1440 you will need sli to get near 60fps. Edit Yeah the i5 is good enough, they posted while I was typing.

well i am either gonna get 2x 680s in sli or 1 680 classified.. and grab another later...

while i have been an AMD user for most of my computer gaming life, i am tired of their lackluster patches and tech. And now that we know what they have been up to this past year, building tech for the new consoles, im switching to NVIDIA, where their main focus is still desktop doublerainbow awesomeness.
