This is a system that has a history, that starts with the Ragged thread. Truly I am partly to blame as I ordered the system in April, before the cases were in stock. But thanks to Alex and his team they were able to take the constant flow of email requests and produce a truly great system.

The Transportation of the system was freight this time around, (it was Fed-Ex last time) and while the rig stayed in apparent good shape, you can't help but see boot marks on top of the box. It was delivered by Crystal Freight as they handle the NY metro area.

The Delivery company called and they were very nice, the driver was within 30 min. and would I be there to accept the drop off. I confirmed all was a go and the truck driver, a little nervous at parking on the street (ticket zone) asked where to drop it. outside only! Well it was his lucky day as he got no tickets and he dropped off the box near the freight door.

After a "hi-ho silver away" he was gone and I had the good fortune to run into the building supervisor on my way out the door. He, and a helper managed to get the rig on a dolly and roll it into the building and up the elevator to my apartment. My grateful thanks and two Alexander Hamilton notes smoothed everything out.

I have to admit, I was nervous opening the box as it had some wear and tear on it. But all was good. I Had to wait to get help getting the thing out of the box and standing upright. Easily 100 Kg.

So, after unpacking and basking in it's glory, I untaped and prepared to power up. Here is a picture of the inside:

It looked, as you can see, that Alex and his team did a great job. Making all the parts I had come across fit. When I powered it up for the first time, it was nothing short of amazing! Watching all the little bubbles being chased around as the pumps came on and basking in it's glow of pure awesomeness.

All I can say to this rebuild is "Job well done". The Hydolux software is giving me some growing pains. As the system cools down the fans come on and off in what sounds like an unhealthy cycle. I can turn it to performance and let it run or bypass the Hydrolux software completely. I will use the large RAM pool to create a RAM Drive to play with. The machine runs very fast and is very quiet. Good work to all at Digital Storm. This Phoenix of a machine has risen better than before!

@Subxero,
Great review! Glad to hear you love the PC. The HydroLux software can turn the fans practically off if your temps are really low, to keep it as quiet as possible. If you would like the fans to stay on, turning on to "Performance" will do the trick. |

Sub! You gotta move the PC to the other side!! That way you can see the inside haha.
Love the blue. No offense to anyone, as it is their PC and really their opinion on appearance is all that matters... but god I'm so glad you did that sexy blue instead of the typical red. (Even I have a Red and Black system and wish I would have went say blue). Seriously... that blue looks freaking amazing. |

I've always been partial to blue. The red seems over done (pardon the pun). Blue looks cool & peaceful... |

Normally I'm a "blue" person as well, but when I was building my rig, I guess I just wanted something different for myself...

It looks so awesome!!!! Love all the mods you had DS do. Just spectacular. And what a work of art. DS is one hell of a company and you certainly made incredible choices. So envious. Oh yeah I really love the clear tubing. Looks cool with the blue fluid. Hmmm The blue looks so cool. I do love my red and blue in my system. The blue sleeving in mine just looks cool with the red I think. Next time I'm doing orange and green. Edited by oldlady RPGer - 05 Oct 2013 at 12:22pm |

Wait how do you get the option for clear tubing with blue liquid? I cannot find that in the config.

Custom request. DS can add anything you want even if it's not listed. Both Subxero & myself requested to have XSPC water blocks added to our builds (among other special items!). I know you're going through many different configurations trying to find the right fit. My build process took nearly 3 months to complete due to changes and custom parts. Here's my build story... And here's my review... |

Thanks for the positive reviews. Like fstcv I have a long history with this system that goes back quite away. To Clarify, the Hydrolux system can be a single color or change as your systems temperature climbs. In retrospect I should have researched a pump and reservoir that wouldn't have interfered with the drive cages so much. Currently I use between 12-16 GB of data as my camera is a beast at 18 MP. & I turn over a lot of photos and video files to clients. The Dual Titans and 6 core CPU rip through projects in seconds instead of hours.
Word of warning, spec your build and ship the special parts to be assembled. The cost of DS doing the buying of items not in the build list is a very large markup. Other than that, Alex was very considerate and answered my emails at all hours and even Sundays! I will probably look to sell this system before too long and get the next generation CPU, Motherboard & GPUs. The system is very quiet and very powerful. Not to mention pretty! I was surprised to find no clear tubing in their stock, as well as the blue fluid. Red seems very popular for some reason. |
