Ok, it's been nine days since I received the big box with DSO on it so I owe a review and some pics to keep the Cat off my back.
No matter what I may say below, the bottom line up front is that I'm a happy camper, and though there were a couple of bumps along the way, I think we all agree that having the kind of customer care and willingness to go the extra mile that DSO brings to the table means that the process doesn't have to be perfect, it's the end result that matters. Performance and value for cost is unbeatable. DSO and forum support is first-rate and a lot of fun. I've spent more on a computer and been far less satisfied than I am with my vanilla little non-overclocked system. Ok, so on with the show... I ordered on the 8th of October and was in Stage 1 by the next day. I received work that the system was ready to ship on Friday the 19th, but as bad luck would have it was leaving town on Monday for work and wouldn't be back until Friday. I asked DSO to hold off shipping for a couple of days and they did. So now despite their and my best efforts, when they released the system to UPS for a Friday the 26th delivery, UPS went and delivered on Wednesday the 24th while I was 3500 miles from home. By sheer good luck, a friend who was checking on my place was there when the UPS Gorillas arrived and signed for the box. So it ended up safe inside, no harm, no foul but I shudder to think of the box going all the way back to Cali cuz I wasn't there. So that also meant it was two more days before I could unbox my new best friend. Hey, it looks like the Gorillas weren't too tough on this one. ![]() Looking good so far, but what's that shiny thing at the bottom? ![]() Uh-oh, did they throw that in as a spare? ![]() Ok, now there's a rattling noise inside the case. Damn you UPS Gorillas... Alright, let's see now, left panel off, and ah-ha, there's the culprit ![]() Zoom out to show you just where it landed... ![]() Ok, so that's two loose screws, I'd better have a look to see where they came from. Ok, lower hard drive looks good...upper hard drive...oh crap! That means there's two more in here somewhere... ![]() There's number three, but no sign of the last one, maybe on the other side? ![]() That's the last of them. Well if that's the hardest test DSO could give me, I think I passed with flying colors. ![]() You and I are going to get to know each other reeeeally well. Too bad the cat behind you will suffer for it. ![]() Here's a couple showing the clean lines inside, and a wiring job that only Kelly couldn't love. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's where she lives ![]() Well darn it, I've got a couple more pics but the server says I'm out of room, so if you want any more I'll post them a little later. So all in all I'd say The configuration you all helped me with and I ordered... Gooooood! DSO's prompt build and delivery, and Kelly apologizing for our misunderstanding about the delivery date.... Gooooood! UPS Gorillas.......Baaaaaad! Hope you enjoy. |

Nice system! Interestingly enough, how did those screws get loose! Look's like we need to do some internal testing on how screws end up loose.

Kelly, I told you that you should have driven the system up here and had a good cup of coffee while you were in Seattle. But from the sounds of your vehicle, it wouldn't have made it as far as the Golden Gate Bridge...
Also, four monitors gives you an unfair advantage in the flight sims, but unless one of those monitors shows you what's at your six, then they really won't do you any good! You name the sim and I'll be there... |

In those flight sims, could you have a circle of monitors and see everything around you? that would be fricken sweet. of course you would have to crawl to get to your chair but it would still be sweet!. |

actually, my car would make it fine.
And as far as my quad monitor setup, as soon as I can afford the triplehead2go, I will have 6 monitors. And one of them is my rear. :)
Well only in one game I can figure out how to do that.
I am looking for a saw :P. I am building my cockpit using speaker stands for the joystick portion of the x52pro and my ch yoke controller.
It's going to be pretty fun.
Anyway, I guess let's go with Blazing Angels?

Well, I think you hold the unofficial record for "Most Screws Loose". Can anybody out there beat 4?
We seem to hear an awful lot about screws rattling around in newly delivered systems. It's probably a real pain, but I still think DSO should consider using something like "Locktight" on their screws.
None of these loose screws has apparently ever caused a problem, and hunting for the screw(s) and their original locations causes you to become more intimately acquainted with the innards of your machine right away.

Bill, I think you're correct. The normal vibrations/jarring associated with transportation is undoubtedly the the primary cause of things like this.
bFrank, great photos! You're rig's new "home" shows off her lovely lines. Enjoy! |

It's actually not much of a pain. You can order screws pre treated with Lock-tite, or just do up a couple hundred (takes about 20 min. from experience) at the start of a day. Lay the screws out on a rag, put a drop on each at the threads and throw them in a bin. Not as good maybe as application right before assembly, but it works.

Computer looks great... The extreme case makes for such a clean roomy install. Easy to get in there and do stuff (aided by the wiring done by DS as well!) that cpu cooler is teh huge! very tough looking.
Sweet rig man
