Correction friend. They say "Happy Holidays" because not everyone is Christian.

Warm Regards,
Alex

How about a Joyous Yule...

The real historical reason for Christmas, to bring those crazy pagans into the catholic church, so the church made up a false birthday for Christ, rewrote their biblical teachings and set about converting the barbarians!

Yahoo!

and Many happy returns to y'all!

From the Greek Scriptures, it is obvious that Jesus was born on mid April. But why is it celebrated on the middle of winter? Why December 25th?

December 25th used to be a very holy day for pagan Romans. They would celebrate the birth of the most powerful god, represented as the Sun. The equinox happens around December 25 or 26, when the days start getting longer again. Therefore, it was interpreted as the re-birth of the god Sun. It was the most festive celebration. Drinking, festive meals, promiscuity and parades where all part of this day.

In order to opaque this celebration for the pagans, the Christian Church declared that December 25th was the birth of Jesus. By doing so, they drew another parallel between the pagan religions and Christianity in order bring and unify them.

These types of parallels are known as the Romanization of Christianity. In other words, Christianity was changed, altered, and accommodated so that the benefit of the powerful Roman pagans to convert.

It was not just the romans, they were a powerful group, but it was also to break the hold of the druids over the celtic peoples, the christian oligarchy was a very efficient public relations machine, it was very good at spinning its message to the masses to get them all to unite.

But yes, in essence you are all pretty much on the ball here
