Hey . To all the the forum junkies what is the early signs of hard drive failure. My rig started to make this scratching noice. First i thought it was the fan but that looks fine. I heard that a metallic scratching noice is the early signs of hard drive crash or even death. lol. all help is thanked.

If your drive is failing, there is no help; just strong advice to back up any data on the ailing drive that you don't want to lose... now! Depending on how much data there is, you should be thinking about an external backup drive or maybe just a thumb drive. Of course, you should be doing this even if the drive is not getting ready to fail.
 
I've been meaning to ask the "Forum" for recommend disk diagnostic software....
