At first I was set on the (1TB Hitachi/Seagate (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) because of the price and the storage but I did some research and saw that there have been problems with that particular brand. So I looked into (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition) as well and saw it had some problems too. I would prefer the Seagate just because the price is better, but what is your opinion. My rig will be used mainly for heavy gaming, is it worth the extra $34 for the WD black and the 64mb? Thank you

First of all as soon as you can upgrade to ssds for os/apps/games.
second all drives have problems, I have had seagates go out, wd go out, they all go bad. the 1TB black caviar is a great drive and fast, we recommend that for now and when you upgrade to ssd the bc will make a great storage drive. remember: HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage |

The newer revisions we have do not have such issues.

Will this setup:
580627 be able to be upgraded in the future so I can add a SSD as my primary and move the current HDD I have selected as my secondary? |

Is the build only not good because of the vista? If that's the case the only reason I picked it was because since I'm a college student I can get windows 7 ultimate for super cheap, so I figured I'd cut costs by choosing the cheapest OS i could since I was going to change it when I got it anyways. Is there anything else wrong with the build though? I will be gaming on a 24" 1920x1080 monitor. Thanks

Well to be honest with you for $40 you are getting a lot better pc in my config.
the cpu cooler you have chosen does not fit you cpu, and its crappy anyways comparing to the a70, you chose turbo boost, my has the stage 1 oc at 4.4, my pc is gonna be a lot faster, the hx psu I chose has 7 year warranty and its a highend psu, the one in your config is a no name with a 2 year warranty, the mpro mobo does not really have anything to offer you over the one I chose with your config. for your res we recommend a single 570 with option to go sli. I had a feeling you were gonna say that about the os, somebody else was doing that, but I just wanted to check and make sure. |

I see what you mean about the OC, but I really don't want to overclock my PC. I know that it makes it faster and everything, but I've just never been a fan, I'm fine with the 4.0 that the 2600k is offering me and whatever the turbo boost gives me.
The only reason I picked the M-pro mobo over the one you selected was because the one you selected said it wasn't SLI capable and I do want to go SLI in the future. I really want to shoot for the 580 though over the 570, if only because BF3 was run on a 580 at E3 and it looked good. If I didn't overclock, and just used the turbo boost, would you still recommend I bump up to the a70 like you selected? I think I will change the psu though, I see what you mean about your choice being better. Thanks again! |

If you want to go sli you will need a 1000w psu, and a sli mobo.
you are not getting 4.0 from the 2600k and the turbo will not give you anything close to that on all 4 cores, turbo on one core will give you 3.9, but that is very different from ocing all 4 cores to 3.9. there is nothing bad about oc? not sure why you don't like it, other then giving much much much faster pc/performance, you would not know the difference, so what is it that you are worried about when there is nothing to worry about? a single 580 was hurting during that bf3 demo, which is why we recommend sli 570 for that res, where it counts the difference between 580 and 570 is 4 to 8 fps, which is almost nothing and can be obtained if need by ocing the 570, in sli at your res, you will never notice the difference between sli 570 and 580, so don't waste your money. |
