Hey I need some help. I have 2 hard drives..1-1TB & 1-500GB. For some reason, when I boot up..it won't recognize the 500 GB hard drive...other times it will...I believe it's a connection issue...but not for sure. I've ensured they were connected but it's still doing it.
Though the case is the 932...I believe the side connectors are getting scrunched against the side panel...is there anyway to get a 90 degree connector for the HD to prevent this from happening? Or is there anyway to check in the BIOS to see if it's reading it on boot but for some reason not seeing it in Vista?
Thanks in advance for your assistance...

Could be a loose sata/bad sata cable. Check both end-points to ensure they are fully connected.

I checked them out...I believe it is the cable is pushed up against the side forcing a bad connection when I close the case.

Tried leaving the case open and booting up?
If you've got the original kit that came with your computer or mobo, you might try just replacing that cable. Or you could try another SATA port if one's available.
You could make a USB bootable flash stick, MSDOS, or some other utility program, get into a command shell and try to CD to that drive, run DIR, etc.
Lastly, maybe the drive itself is going bad.

I know this isn't much help but, I don't recognize your hard drive either. This relationship just doesn't feel the same anymore. I think I want to date other people. It's not you, it's me.
Are we talking about the same thing? ![]() |

Ok..I finally got it working. I never got the call back from Sarah...but I did a little googleing and found a solution to the unrecognizeable Hard drive issue. It appears that some MOBOs need you to place your System HD in a particular Sata slot before the secondary drive. In my MOBO X58SLI LE..I was able to get the system in slot 0 and secondary in 5 and now it recognizes it w/o me having to refreshing disk management all the time. wooohooo. Thanks for trying Sarah...I know you were just as baffled as I was:)
Don't forget to reset your boot order...in BIOS...
