I  mostly play online games, would I benefit from getting a good hard drive like a raptor? Some people say it don’t matter, it will only help a little.

You should see slightly faster loading times with all applications (not just online gaming) with a faster HDD.  However, it may not even be noticeable.

I use a raptor boot drive. I believe it makes a small difference, but I can't quantify the difference or even prove it's really there.

Since I've bought my machine, I've become convinced that if you want to go for the best disk performance, you should get a couple of cheap 7200rpm drives and configure them in RAID0. Then get a bigger "D:" drive and a good disk imaging progam like "True Image" or "Ghost"

In the end, "it don’t matter, it will only help a little."
