Ordered my rig last week, the waiting is killing me.

Been second guessing myself a lot on my choices though.

I love the look of the Assassin case, so went with that but i see a lot of people giong crazy over the HAF X case.

I went with a non SLI mobo, keep telling myself that if i need more GPU power down the road, I will just buy a newer better single GPU... doubting if this is the way to go.

went with the 570 GTX, wondering if I should have stuck with the 560 GTX and gone the deluxe mobo to allow me to go dual 560 at some stage.

lastly, wondering if I should have gone the basic LC solution instead of my Noctura, so that I could expand on it in the future to eventually get to a dual loop system for the GPU and CPU.

all in all I could go HAF X - 560 - SLI mobo - Stage 3 cooling for about the same price as Assassin - 570 - Noctura.

Gah, going insane with second guessing.

If it has not been shipped I would make a few changes to ensure expandability.

Go with the HAF-X and SLI capable mobo.

You just can't beat the extra longevity just those two changes will give you.

And Stick with the 570. Add another one when money allows.

What size screen and res are you planning on running?

Heh, wasnt trying to turn this into a "tweak my build" post, wrong section for that...

but 1900x1200 is what I game at.

I think i will keep the assassin case and add the Deluxe mobo to allow for SLi in the future.

i have a nice antec case sitting here i am going to turn into a stand alone water cooling rig (ie nothing but water cooling stuff in it) as a fun project and so i'll stick with the Noctura.

Gah, the waiting, it burns!

Stage 5 !

Guessing it's about a week out with time for Stage6/7 and then delivery.

gives me a week to re-cable my network and redo my office then I guess :)

wow, got my stage6 email tonight, i figure that means it might ship tomorrow, and be at my house mid to end next week.. woot!

started the first stage of modifications to my office tonight, heat repellent insulation on the window to cool the ambient down in this room. (aka cardboard with silver foil facing out.. lol)

haha, i am alive, barely. putting the last 3 pannels on the window this morning to seal it up. it's a second story window that the afternoon sun just beams right in. i sit next to it with my monitor in front of it. it's both damn hot, and tons of glare in the afternoon.. lol.. so I am sealing it up.

Moving to a 3-day-from-home work week, so it's time to set the office up right.

Got 2 old servers (Dual Opteron 270 1U and DL380G4 - dual 3.4Ghz Xeons) sitting here that i need to find a way to actually turn on (extremely loud) to use for VM's, have my "gateway" (old dell running Astaro) and my old sager Laptop. will be adding a work laptop here soon too... so heat is going to be an issue.

Been looking at the old Antec case I have sitting here and I think I am going to make it a external watercooling setup and see if I can make a really nice watercooling setup that will just sit next to the PC. Lots of research going on for that.

I need to build a better way to house these machines and keep them cool, and quiet.

That sounds a lot like my office about 6 or so years ago, before I massively cut-back (largely due to some streamlining at work). I definitely feel you on the massive heat output. I guess the plus side, is that if you live anywhere with winters that are even mildly cool, you can save on the heating bill Big%20Smile.
