Hi,

I purchased a pc in January 2008. It has run well, with the exception of the nvidia display driver issue (which went away after changing my power settings).

However, now I hear small clicks coming from the inside of the pc... when its working. It sounds like a fishing reel being wound up.

Can anyone recommend some hard drive diagnostic tools that work with modern harddrives. All the shareware programs I have tried do not detect my harddrive.

While I am at it, can anyone recommend a memory diagnostic tool as well. I am curious about the health of my machine.

The memory part at least is a no brainer. Get MemTest86. It can be a pain to run it if you don't have a floppy drive. It can't be run from inside Windows. You need a floppy, a bootable thumb drive, or you have to make a bootable CD.
