I know this usually just gets glazed over when recommending parts in a build, but here's some good data that has come from BackBlaze about hard drive reliability. They are showing fail rates within an extreme environment but still good data to do a comparison with. I would have to say I've had roughly the same experience with the drives I've used although I still favor WD over Hitachi but would never buy a Seagate again. I know the WD and Samsung SSD drives cost a little more, but witsh DS would start using them in their Vanquish lineup & give them as options in the laptops - just to provide a little more reliability to those systems...

Yeah, I was just checking that out earlier. Kinda reaffirms our suggested drives when helping out.

I found the helium-filled HDD interesting.
