Hi

My Sapphire ATI HD 5870 is idle at 63ºC - fan speed at 21%.
(Reading from ATI Overdrive™.

My appartment has a lot of dust these days. I'm a student, so I don't clean 23/7 tbh.
Is it normal to have the idle temp at 63°C?

How can I clean the card for dust? Remove the red stock plastic fan cover?

THX

just remove the cover only and blow some air thru it, but why don't you set your fan higher?

get some compressed air, remove the cover, and spray some CO2 lol

eh, you can put on a fan filter...it's a tradeoff for airflow, somewhat, but it greatly reduces the amount of dust that can get in your system every day. however, you'll have to remember to clean the filter too eventually.

Hahahaha this is so funny! I turned on ATi overdrive and made it overclock my card.
GPU clock 890MHz
Memory Clock 1290MHz
Idle temp: 54*C. It dropped with overclock? OMG

I have a problem. 1 of the screws was almost soft, so I kind of recked the tiny screw, so I can not get it out because I sort of sphered/rounded the screw socket. Do you have an idea how I can get it up? Do I have to drill the screw?

As I told you, you should have never messed with the card and just raise the fans speed instead.

If you threaded the screws then now its gonna be a pain to get them off and if you have warranty you might mess it up if you try and drill them out and etc.

a gpu does not need cleaning unless you see its seriously dusted up or even with fan at 80% or 100% your temps are high.

nvm the question lol T_T
I was asking about the screw thing, the warranty is irrelevant. IF I am making LCS I need to take it appart anyways lol...

yes if you are going to put a WB on it then you need to take it off. and you can drill it or get one of those kits that are for removing threaded screws.
