I seen a post about the Hard Drive light not working right if you call and request a replacement part how hard would it be ti install ?
would you have to redo all the wireing to the header unit or do the wires plug into it?

I have read that connecting the wires from the case front panel to the motherboard correctly is the most error prone part of building a PC. Last time, I screwed it up twice. This is assuming that the all the case stuff (power SW, reset SW, power light, and HD light) have their own wires. Unlike every other connector in the system, the front panel connectors don't seem to be keyed, and it's easy to put them on backwards or in the wrong place altogether. For switches this doesn't matter; at least the backwards part. For LEDs, it's a show stopper.
So, the first thing I'd do (if I could actually rouse myself enough to care about the HD activity light) is check that connection to the mobo. Check the mobo manual for its location. Just rotate the connector 180 degrees and see what happens.
If the LED really is defective, my uneducated guess is that it will be a hard thing to replace. Edited by Bill the Cat - 03 May 2009 at 12:15pm |
