Anyone ever used one?

Does it make a huge difference in the way the game plays/looks?

Was thinking of getting a Samsung TFT HD around 22-24 inch.

There really is no such thing as a HD monitor since monitors have been doing high definition for over a decade.

Don't buy from places that advertises monitors as HD.

Then what is the difference?  Why the new 1080p tag on monitors?

Standard definition is 720×480. High definition refers to resolutions of 1280×720 or greater.

Televisions are labeled as 720p/1080i/1080p or HD because people needed to distinguish them from standard definition. I've never seen a monitor labeled as 1080p.

Some guy at Best Buy said it when I was browsing.

Thats why I was confused about it.  I thought Computer Monitors were all HD, as you said before.

So then what is a great gaming monitor around 22-27 inches?Smile

I was thinking of SyncMaster 245BW WS 24inch perhaps.

Depends on what you plan on playing and what your computer specs are.

If you don't have a SLI setup, I wouldn't recommend anything over 22".

Samsung monitors are great.

This is part of what I pieced together.
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad QX9650 Extreme 3.00GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache)
Motherboard: nVidia 790i Ultra Core 2 Quad (nForce 790i Ultra SLI) (DDR3 Only)
Memory: 4GB DDR3 Corsair at 1333MHz
Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (nVidia GeForce 9800GTX 512MB)

Dunno how the monitors react to SLI and all, since I was previously running on AGP.

Actually the Hanns·G HG-281DPB Monitors do have a 1080P label on them. I have one. I really dont know why. Id only recommend it though if youre not a picture quality nazi, as it supposedly doesnt have a good picture quality...though it looks fine to me..and really good enough is all i care about.

Yeah, I just want a new one.  Don't know if I need it or not.

I got a 19inch viewsonic on my old computer.

Just wanted something in the nature of widescreen and larger.

After using a 19in monitor, switching to a 22" widescreen will be a big improvement. Don't forget to compare response time and refresh rates when shopping around.
