OK now I am pissed off. First it was Dawn of War that would not work, now it is Bioshock 1. When I'm about to click finish in the Bioshock installer a Securom error message appears, telling me I should try updating my BIOS drivers or something like that.
I think this Securom problem might be an issue only with games that I install from the disk, and not Steam. Can anyone confirm?

I do not want to have to buy Bioshock from Steam AGAIN, SEEING AS I ALREADY ****ing own the game on disk, and I should be able to play it!

I have Windows 8 and all my drivers for everything on my computer are updated, so I know thats not the problem.

I remember reading that it was only securom games on disc between 2001 and 2008 that just wouldn't work with Windows 7,8 and 10. There is a securom removal tool. Google it and see if it helps. I have never used it so user beware.

Buying a digital version was one fix but who wants to buy again.

i wonder if there is a way to tell Steam that I already bought a physical copy of the game (for example, some code on the game box that I can type in somewhere, so Steam will let me download the game digitally without having to pay), or would that not be possible, because Steam wouldn't care if I bought the game CD from amazon.com 6 years ago?

Anywho, I think i'll just be buying it on Steam, $20 won't be too much. I have a Bioshock Infinite CD copy, hopefully that will work fine, that was made after 2008.
