Hey Guys I could use some expert advice on headsets here with my setup.
I have the asus maximus IV extreme mother board (forgive spelling) I was thinking of purchasing sennheiser pc360 headsets but allot folks say you need a dedicated sound card. I was wondering if my motherboards build in sound card would be fine, I like to play BF2 and I have already ordered BF3 with friends so that we can do the team thing again. One last question on pc360 some folks say to add the astro mini amp to this. Would that be a soothing. Thanks again all Frey |

I'm not a sound expert, rice is pretty good at that stuff, but I can tell you this, get the headphone and use it with the mobo sound, if its not good enough you can always add the sound card, but having said that I can tell you that the sound expert says that for good headphones you gonna want a sound card.

from your tastes it seems like your only a gamer? If your into stereo headphone listening you would probably go another route and or just get another headset for that. Ive heard nothing but good things about that particular headset and and im a big sennheiser fan i use the HD 650's my self.
As far as adding the astro amp(im assuming you mean the mix amp) it seems okay but the big draw from it looks like the support of dolby headphone and surround sound which is an acquired taste to some people and some people dislike it like myself. Honestly though the headphones are a great starting point and any other purchases you can make based on some more research later on. Edited by RiceEatin2000GT - 04 Oct 2011 at 2:07am |

your not going to find anything good in all of those requirements unless your willing to give something up. From what ive seen most wireless headsets for the pc aren't meant to far away from the transmitor. Most people who are into music listening would cringe if they were wireless lol. With what you want your going to get a wireless gaming headset that depending on what your taste in music is will be just okay for music unless you like boomy music. |

What are some opinions on the best headset with a mic for gaming on a rig with no sound card? Don't care about wireless or connection type. I do plan on eventually getting a sound card but I can't imagine that'd make any product perform worse...

the logetech g35 has served me well. and theres also a more expensive wireless version if you like.
and its usb so no sound card needed (in fact i don't think i can use a sound card if u have one) but its virtual surround sound which i think sounds great but everyone has their opinions on it. Edited by maxyme - 10 Oct 2011 at 10:53pm |
