I received my awesome DS computer in mid Feb and its been running great. I have been a little OCD about my temps and they have been good so far.  20c idle and around 30-35 when playing games ( not graphical powerhouses). Its starting to get warmer now and my idle temps have been creeping up a little. Now I dont have AC in the room where my computer is but are there any sugesstions about what I should do when the heat of summer is upon us? I have a stage 2 air cooled CPU (Noctura). Thanks!

That's really bad and not quite right. You shouldn't even be getting that on the stock heatsink let alone a noctua.

I suggest you reapply some TIM and reseat the cooler.

PS. Call DS if your not comfortable with doing this, but whatever you do get it done asap.

TIM? I'm not that familiar with terms, but I'm assuming you mean thermal paste, right? anyways, I am highly considering upgrading to LC VERY SOON, which I'll have to replace thermal paste anyways. called DS today, also.

TIM=Thermal Interface Material
and there's nothing wrong with that cooler.
so don't upgrade just because you think the noctua is 'not good enough' Because unless your heatsink is made of cheese there's not way in hell you can get those temps from a properly applied heatsink

just reseated the heatsink. think I may have loosened it or something, heh.

CPU now reads 60~65

still considering a LC rig, though, I wanna be able to get my overclock a leetle bit higher Ouch

I agree with sirsiddius your temp is way too high for idle, upgrading may resolve your issue but again maybe not. It shouldn't be that high anyway and therefore upgrading most likely won't solve your problem. What did DS have to say about your temp?

>_> Look At Above Post
60~65 C Now After Heatsink Tightening

Had a really hard time figuring out how the heck you tighten down those intel heatsinks, though.

(yesss, i meant intel, not noctua. i have stock cooling, lol)

60~65c idle with an overclock to 3.33~3.35 using stock cooler

I thought it was pretty reasonable.

gonna test idle soon as I finish installing this device driver.
