Hey there. I've done research on this forum and I'm planning on buying this setup, but before I take the plunge I had a couple of questions.
My computer room is a tad warm most of the time. Will I have to worry about the CPU/GPUs overheating or will the cooling system suffice? I know with beefy systems comes noise, but will this system be absurdly loud.. I'd like to avoid a jet engine in the room if at all possible. haha Also, are SSDs that much better over say a VelociRaptor HDD? I could get a 300GB VelociRaptor HDD for cheaper than a 128GB SSD and then always upgrade to a nice SSD once prices lower and capacities increase. Thanks for your help! One more question. Would a 750W give off less heat/sound and still be able to run 2x GTX 275's?
I was sort of future-proofing the PSU, but I could always upgrade it to a 1000W when the time comes that it's needed. |

If you're just gaming, just stick to the raptors. SSDs are better but not worth the money if you are just gaming.
Yes, 750W is able to handle 2x GTX 275. It's probably better to stick to the 1000W if you are planning to upgrade in the future. Your computer will probably give out around 40dB on full load. Edited by skyR - 12 Aug 2009 at 1:00pm |

I will agree with everything skyR said except about ssd.
ssds will load your games/apps/os faster, so in short, if you can afford the ssd go ahead but if you can't wait till next year and ugrade to it, but don't spend money on a raptor now and upgrade to ssd later, get a 500GB now and upgrade to ssd later. |

Only around 40dB? That makes me feel a lot better, thanks.
I'm fine getting the 1000W PSU and I'll probably stick with the raptor. 300GB should last me nicely for gaming. Will the Noctua cooler and fans deal nicely with the heat, nothing to worry about there? Thanks both of you. |

Noctua is fine, I'm not so sure about that 40dba, it can be higher, I have seen it be reported 56dba and even higher.
have a read here about ssd vs veloci keep in mind the ocz drive in that article is much slower then the vertex or corsair and still its killing it, having said that, I say go with a 500GB now and upgrade to ssd end of this year or H1 of next year, there are much better ssds coming out.
