I have had my computer form Digital Storm for about 12 days. I noticed yesterday that Processor is getting way too hot. I had Real Temps and CPUID Hardware Monitor open and after I got out of playing Dragon Afe on the top settings for about 90 minutes my cores had peaked at over 85 degrees C. The room was 75 degrees F.
Here is a screen shot from today again when they topped out over 85 again. Again playing Dragon Age. My system System Configuration: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 SLI 3 Edition (Intel X58 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) (Model: 131-GT-E767) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) Optical Drive 2: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1GB (Includes PhysX Technology) (EVGA Brand) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Asetek Liquid CPU Cooler (120mm Radiator) They overclocked my intel i7 950 to 3.7ghz and my graphics card to Core MHz: 842 Memory MHz: 912 Shader MHz: 1684

Definitely on the warm side, more so if that's just from gaming and not something more stressing like Prime95, though perhaps not into panic range just yet.
Also keep in mind that isn't the best cooler in the world. |

wierd, this hadnt happened before? check to make sure the fan(s) on your asetek cooler are spinning, shine a flashlight on all your fans to make sure they are spinning the heatsink may have been a little loose or been shaken loose, give it a semi-firm push to see if it obviously moves on the motherboard, or see if the screws will tighten some open cpuz and screenshot the main screen also make sure the case isnt getting choked = plenty of room in the front back and sides between the case and any walls or solid surfaces

I know it's not the greatest cooling system in the world but that from everything I have read that temperature is not good for the board figuring it will be running at the temperature for 15 to 20 hours a week for the next few years roughly is why since I'm less than 30 days in trying to find out if I need to send the system back and DS stress tested it before to make sure everything would work fine and they approved the configuration and I even talked to several senior techs before hand and that is what they recommended based on my budget.
I checked the screws and they seem to be secure. I haven't unscrewed it and re screwed it back on yet but screws are on firm. And the case is 3 inches off the floor to let air circulate through the opening in the bottom of the Haf 922 and over 20 inches from any wall on the sides. Here is your screenshot for cpuz

eh, your voltage may be set as high as 1.4 assuming dso uses vdroop, which means those temperatures are not great but not inexplainable I haven't unscrewed it and re screwed it back on yet but screws are on firm
do NOT do this, unless you have your own thermal paste and want to reseat it on your own do not remove that heatsink
did you check the fans??

Is your computer getting enough airflow where it is located? Also, we could help you fine-tune your overclock further to reduce temps. One way to do this on your own also is to lower the CPU voltage two notches and then run LinX for about 50 passes to see if you notice any stability issues. Keep doing this until the voltage can't go any lower, bump it back up a notch and then you should have lower temps.

Yes all the fans are spinning just fine. And while I do have my own thermal paste I wasn't planning on un screwing. Figure the thermal paste doesn't need to be re applied for 6 months to a year.
The computer tower is out in the open not sure any better place to put it to get more airflow. How do I do this "lower the CPU voltage two notches and then run LinX for about 50 passes to see if you notice any stability issues. Keep doing this until the voltage can't go any lower, bump it back up a notch and then you should have lower temps." No clue how this is done. |

sounds like a video request alex!
haha
restart and when your monitor gets a signal start smacking your DEL key, this will take you to the bios
on the right there should be an option for Frequecy/Voltage, enter that
scroll down a little and you will see an option for VCORE, which is probably at 1.38something
then you can follow alex's instructions

Ok makes sense on how to get to the BIOS screen. But when Alex says two notches what does that mean? if my voltage is at 1.38something should I move it down to like 1.18 or does that mean like 1.36?? Also what is LinX that I am suppose to run?
Sorry new to this whole custom computer and tweaking computer thing. |

when you hit enter on your VCORE voltage, it will bring up a LONG list that moves in small increments, alex is suggesting that you move it down 2 increments and try testing with LinX which you can find a link and usage info for in the tech support guide section
