Hello everyone,
I'm new to DigitalStorm so I have some questions/concerns that maybe someone here can help with. Please forgive me for the long post. I'm current running one old MAC PRO and an old 3930K Win10 box with dual GTX980ti's. I recently lost one of the GPU's while doing some data processing. I currently work between the two stations and would like to go to a single powerful desktop/workstation. Budget: $9000 Expectations: In order of priority - Extreme and stable performance when processing very large raw data/image sets, max level gaming, fast audio and video encoding and editing. Usage: Astro Photography image processing, Pixinsight, Affinity Photo, Photoshop, DAW studio and gaming. Special Needs: I need a system that can run at very heavy workloads for long periods of time with limited thermal throttling. A typical 100 image data set can take 5+ hours for pre-processing on my aged 64GB Intel XEON 12-Core/24 thread 2.7GHz Mac Pro at 100% usage of all cores, threads and memory. I use TensorFlow and Cuda when possible, so a strong cooled GPU is a must (Pluss I like to game when I have the time) Saved Ticket #: Configuration Code: 4675079 Specifications: digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=4675079 Notes: I would love to populate this beast with 128GB of DDR5 but I have heard that there are issues with anything over 64GB. I am not sure if there is any truth to this, and I have not been able to find any reliable data. The configurator will allow me to select 128GB of DDR5 at 4800 clocks. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. My biggest concern is keeping the 13900KS cool. Will the Aventum be able to prevent throttling while maintaining reasonable temps under very heavy workloads? Some of my software such as Pixinsight and the accompanying plugins will use all the memory, cores and threads that it can get its hands on. If anyone has any info on what temps I can expect, I will be grateful. Does anyone know if a Die Frame aka contact frame is used to fasten down the CPU? From my understanding, a decent contact frame will help with distributing the heat across the water block to reduce temps. I used to run 2x 6GB GTX980ti for my TenserFlow/Cuda processing. They would go to 100% memory and GPU utilization. I recently popped one of the cards while processing some data. Keeping the GPU nice and cool is also a must and concern. Does anyone have any input on what temps I may expect in this build? Thanks in Advance. |

I can't weigh in on your usage. I'm strictly involved with gaming. But if you can't get anyone to respond in a couple of days, Digital Storm has experts working for them that could advise you and answer your questions. They are not at all prone to oversell, but rather to fit your need. At your price point, there's not much they could up-sell you on anyway.

Welcome to DS. The forum is populated by users and not DS team members. Every once in a while one or two will show up and post but not regularly. Please contact DS directly, phone is best, to discuss your needs and what they come up with. That system should be something! ![]() Good luck and please keep us posted. ![]() |
