I am not familiar with those programs and how demanding they are. But, my assumption would be that it is something like graphics/3d rendering or video editing. Someone will probably have to chime in who knows more about the demands of that specific software.

Here is the requirements for Finale 2012.
Finale System Requirements Finale 2012 for Windows® XP/Vista/Windows 7 (64-bit compatible). DVD-ROM drive. 800x600 minimum monitor resolution. Minimum 512MB RAM (1GB or more recommended). 600MB hard drive space required for software and user manual. An additional 2GB hard drive space is required for all VST/AU sounds included with Finale 2012. Optional MIDI interface MIDI input and/or playback device Printer Scanner Microphone required for use of MicNotator® A soundcard (including Standard Direct Sound, MME or ASIO drivers) is required for playing the Garritan and other VST sounds in Windows. Better processor and hard drive speed is required for simultaneous use of more VST/AU instruments. These are pretty loose requirements and I don't know that a X79 platform is required. It does sound like that if you are doing multiple instruments then more CPU power is needed. skippyz, I suggest you go to the Finale Forum and ask about what kind of computer other users are using. I don't know enough about what you are doing to suggest a system. Frank Edited by FrankW - 26 Apr 2012 at 9:00am |

Hi skippyz,
Glad to help. Can't you run a poll on a forum and ask what kind of computer they are running. If you are all ready doing this work does your present computer work? We just need a feel for how much power you need. I don't think you need much but want to be sure you get what you need. We also need to know the resolution of the monitor you are using and if you will be using more than one monitor at a time. Frank |
