Hello everyone,
I thought I would jump in and say hi. I have been lurking around this forum for several weeks now as I looked to buy my next PC. My current comp is very long in the tooth and I managed to convince the Mrs of a need for an upgrade.
Anyway, after much agonizing over price and where to buy, online or bricks and mortar, I opted to try Digital Storm. This is the first PC I have bought on the internet and I was a bit nervous but so far the experience has been very good. Right now I am at Stage 3 and can't wait to have it in my hands to see how it runs and looks.
I just wanted to say thanks to Duke, Kelly, and everyone who has helped me out so far. Hopefully I can be an active contributor to these forums.
For those of you that are interested my specs are:

nice build, I would have gone with stage 3 cooling but stage 2 is good also
glad you went with 64bit so you can use all your memory.
you can call them and ask them for the fan for your ram, it helps and should cost you very little and see if you can change your ram from Corsair or ocz
you sure have come to the right place, I'm what you call a picky shopper, and for me to like any place is unheard of but DS has proven to go to any length to keep the customer happy, and I feel very comfortable recommending them, so you got nothing to worry about
welcome aboard

One thing I would do is switch the Corsair 800Mhz to OCZ 1066mhz. Also probably would've gone with stage 3 cooling. It still looks like an excellent and stable build though. Congratulations on your new baby... Err computer.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I originally went with Stage 3 cooling and better RAM but was told that it wasn't completely necessary as I had already gone over my budget a bit (I really appreciated that the DS folks were helpful with my budget consideration). I did change to the 64 bit Vista when told it would make full use of the memory though.
I like to play a real variety of games and don't really go for one particular type. The only ones I really avoid are MMORPG's as my two small children don't allow me the time.
Otherwise, HL2, Civ 4, looking forward to the new Fallout game and single player RPG's are my thing, oh and I am really looking forward to running Company of Heroes on this build - oh yes indeed!

Ah, I see. Thanks for the input. I will email the DS folks and see what I can do.

Welcome to the forums mightyImp. I can see we share some of the same tastes in games. I loved Civ 4, and still drag it out from time to time. Fallout 3... OMG! I seriously can't wait for that title to come out. I was a bit disappointed with the gameplay in Oblivion, and I'm really hoping Bethesda Softworks makes it up to their long time fans with this next release. I honestly wouldn't worry about the RAM. Corsair's higher binned RAM seems to be the issue, not their stock DDR2.
I'll be looking forward to your posts. Edited by Tyler Lowe - 10 Sep 2008 at 12:15am |

Also with 1066mhz on the ram, it should allow you to overclock the cpu a little easier if you decided to do so. Either way, it's probably the better choice right now as HM stated Corsair isn't being it's fullest at the moment.

stage 3 will get you better OC speeds and yes corsair has been crapping out and the fan for the ocz should cost you like I think $20, worth the money, specially since you are going with stage 2 cooling.

Thanks for the welcome everybody. Based on your suggestions I have upgraded my RAM to OCZ at 1066. I am at stage 7 now and am very excited. Hopefully, early next week will be when my new PC arrives. I look forward to letting you know how it runs and continuing to be a part of this community.
