I need some help I installed COD4 and Silent Hunter 4 on my new DS system. Both games installed fine but when  I went to play them all I got was a black screen. You could hear the sound fine.  The rest of my games played fine. Since i dont know much about computers and should of asked first. I installed the Latest drivers from nividia now my monitor is black and I cant get any picture even on a regular boot. What should I do?

It could mean that the video card is outputting a resolution that is not compatible with the monitor. Try this, restart the computer, after the first screen passes, press F8 repeatedly until you bring up an advanced Windows Boot menu. Select "Safe Mode" and that should get you into the desktop. Then go into the control panel -> Add/Remove Programs and click on the NVIDIA Drivers. Select to only uninstall graphic drivers and then restart the computer. It should go back into Windows "normal mode" with no display drivers. Make sure you install the latest "correct" drivers for your video card. That should do it.

Ok well that didnt work.  When I start the system there never is a first screen it just stays black. The monitor acts like it isnt getting any signal (The little button on the front never turns green) Is there another way to run the restore disc without a monitor? I dont have anything saved yet so loosing data isnt a problem.

got it to work next question there are 4 ports to plug a monitor in on the back (2 on each video card) I can only get it to work on the top right (looking at it from the back) should it play on all 4?

if SLi is on, it will only work with 1 port, the top left when you're looking at back of the computer.

Not to be a smart ass or anything, but are you sure the GPU, monitor, or cable connecting them didn't get jostled? I assume the monitor is getting power and that indicator is illuminated amber.

Check the cable running from the monitor to your GPU.
If you are using an adapter from the GPU to that cable, make sure all connections are secured and the retaining screws are snug (not over tight).

My next step from there would be to troubleshoot the SLI, but it sounds like you'll want to wait for a step by step from a DSO tech if you're a little uncomfortable with computers. (Either that or bribe a 25B to do it for you Tongue.)

It probably is the driver install since that is when things stopped working, but it's at least possible something else is going on. I would try the simple stuff first before moving further.

edit: And Kelly is on, I'll just shutup now LOL.

Your right the top left port is the only one it works on. It was working on the lower right before seems to work fine now thanks for the advice!
