Hey there, looking into a new computer! I'm really not sure where I need to invest the extra money and where I can cut a little. In this config I have the i5 processor instead of the i7. How much of a difference in real world performance can I expect? Same with the graphics card, and so on.
Budget: Dear lord, hopefully under 2k. As much as possible without sacrificing too much performance for what I need. Expectations: Gaming. WoW and LoL currently (as well as some Skyrim) but the future games as well. I'm pretty sick of the lag in WoW. Mild image editing and general use other than that. Special needs? Well. It's pretty dusty here, and we have a lot of animals. My computer gets pretty gunked up because of that. Quietness is definitely a factor for me, as my current computer sounds like a jet engine. I'm going to have a lot of questions here. This is normally the question first asked by literally everyone so I'll get it out of the way; what resolution are you gaming at?

For this budget, I think you're much better off going with an ODE system. The price/performance ratio is the highest here. Ode Level 1 will have all of this + a few other features for cheaper.

Hi Baimee,
Here is a system that has more performance with better CPU, the same Mobo, a better cooler, a higher OC and a better GPU for $100 more. This system or the ODE-1 would be a better choice. The problem with the ODE-1 is you can't add a second 570 for SLI operation. with the m pro mobo and sli you are not gonna have pci lanes open for any other pci card.
also do you need sli? what res you gonna be gaming at? I would take frank's build and change mobo to z68 pro and psu to 750w hx, its more powerful then the 800w. |
