I am really close to getting my computer from DS and i need to find a monitor. I want a 24inch 1900x1200. I don't want a cheap one but i don't want to spend 1000 bucks either. I want one that can handle some heavy gaming. Any help would be awesome |

Check out Samsung, I am a big fan of their products and from what I have seen their monitors are extremely nice as well.

I have a very sincere recommendation for you, which is the Benq 24-incher here. There are surprisingly few high-performance 24" monitors suitable for gaming and after a lot of research I bought this one. It is superb, and relatively reasonably priced for what it is. The only weakness is that the mounting is a little delicate, one reason why I have virtually banned my children from my office.
Edit: The Benq runs at 1920 x 1200, btw, assume that won't be a problem! Edited by Bahger - 04 Jun 2009 at 3:19pm |

Thanks Sarah and Bahger. I looked at that one Bahger. Like all the monitors i found they have some good reviews and some bad ones. I don't care if it tilts or swivels or anything like that i will be looking at it straight on. Its a tuff decision. Where did you get yours?

I got mine at NewEgg. FWIW, I have never found the lack of height adjustment to be an issue and you can tilt it of course. I do not recall any review of this monitor finding fault with anything but the above issues. It seems that Samsung, HP and even Dell have very well-regarded high-performance 24" LCDs with 1920 x 1200 res but for me this was a clear winner, partly because it seems to be about $100 - $200 cheaper. There were no dead pixels, the color is brilliant and it can keep up with what the mighty DS rig is pushing at it.

Cool thanks Bahger that helps alot. I was leaning towards a Samsung but there mixed reviews also. I always worry about ordering a monitor online. I have heard so many stories of DOA or DP or something else wrong.

Well, read the small print carefully. Funnily enough I had to return a monitor to NewEgg because I clicked twice and ordered two by mistake! The returns process went very smoothly, all I had to do was print out a label, fix it to the box and drop the thing off at the local UPS store. Keep all the packaging for a couple of weeks. And double check the NewEgg returns policy; I think they will accept returns with a certain (small) number of dead pixels as well as all the usual reasons.
I hesitated to order a monitor online, too, but there was no choice. Stores simply don't stock the high-end LCDs, they are a niche item and not worth the outlay for the stores or the shelf-space. I suspect you'll be finding yourself buying online. NewEgg is very good.

I heard NewEgg is hard to return stuff. I have never ordered anything from them. It sucks that there isn't a store you could go to other than Office Max or Best Buy to look at monitors. I don't know where you live but here in Wisconsin there isn't much to chose from.

I'm considering the LG W2453V-PF 24" monitor. Does anyone have any reviews or opinions on it? Any help is appreciated.

The best 24" is the samsung 245T well at least it was a few months back not sure if anything has come out that matches or beats its specs but it is alsio a pricey moniter. Its the one I own but I regret not getting the 30" samsung 305T instead.

Hey Paraguy how is that monitor for gaming? Any issues?
Null why do you think HDMI is better? I asked Sarah if i could connect an HDMI monitor to the HAF case and this is what she said. "Totally, you just need a DVI to HDMI converter for your video cards." Whats that mean?

HD! You'd need something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882021060 Allows you to connect an HDMI cable to video cards that lack an HDMI port |

So all it does is to have sound come through the monitor? Nothing with the picture quality? |

Well most monitors don't have sound, you need to add speakers, the hdmi is more for TV kind of monitors I guess.

You've already gotten plenty of advice; now it's up to you. As I said before, I just went through the same thing and, after much research, bought the Benq. It's a fantastic monitor. You'll need to overcome your resistance to buying online, I'm afraid, retail sores just don't carry high-end monitors, t's not worth their while. |
