Hey guys. I ordered a computer from this site about... three weeks ago? Anyway, it's been a while. I called Friday and they told me the motherboard was bad, so it'll be a while longer until I get it. This means they'll have to take out the graphics cards and a whole lot of other stuff.

For this reason, and because I'll be gone for a week this Saturday and can stand the wait, I have seriously considered swapping out my graphics cards for something better, and saving a little money too. Here's my config. I'd give an actual link, but they changed the site and it messes up a few things.

I have two 8800ULTRA's in there. That was pretty pricy, and I was very wary about doing it, but I went ahead anyway. I'm now thinking about swapping out those two ULTRA's for a GTX280. I might try 2x GTX280's, but I'll have to see how much the price will be. Probably too much.

I want to swap out the two ULTRA's for a GTX280 because, while the ULTRA's are amazing cards, they will be obsolete faster than the GTX280's. And if I get one GTX280, I can easily put in another card later. What would you guys do?

I would wait until the reviews for the Radeon HD4870 cards are out next week.

A single GTX 280 is about ~$650.

And yes drop the Ageia PhysX P1 card like Aich said. All the Geforce 8 and 9 cards are going to be getting drivers in July that will enable PhysX.

Yeah, I meant to ask about that PhysX card, but forgot. So, basically, the GTX280 has a "built-in" version of the PhysX card?

Yes. All the recently released and future releases of Nvidia Geforce will have PhysX capabilities since Nvidia bought Ageia.

Okay, thanks guys. Now I'm very glad my computer had some mobo problems. $500 less, and a better GFX card :).

I suppose, when changing my order, I simply call and ask right?

Or you can do what i did, get a GX2, and find somebody getting rid of their "old" (aka 1-2 months) GX2 for a 280.

I got a second GX2 off of a member of EVGA.com for only 165 bucks.
