Im very new at GPU OC, Ive got the EVG 580GTX 3GB (non classified/lc) and was wondering if its even worth it to OC on a 1680x1050 res (native, used in games also.) Games I currently play are StarCraft 2, Rift and sometime HON. I will be playing Diablo 3 when it comes out.
I do use MSI Afterburner mostly for fan control and temps monitoring. Edited by Kaleliar - 14 Nov 2011 at 3:13am |

Not sure for what, at that res the 580 should give you all you need.

Mostly for Rift. Even at minimal settings its only giving around 38fps, drops to 23fps in large events.

@1680x1050 ? if so then something is not right, I know people that play rift with one 570 at 1900 x 1200 range and get better fps then that.
I'm not saying you should be getting exactly that but you should be close to that. have you checked your 580's clock? is it down clocked by any chance? even if you oced your 580 fps gains are going to be very little just a few, unless the card has down clocked in which case you need to set it back to stock clocks. Clocks are 772MHz Core, Shader 1544MHz, Memory 2004MHz
Those are the same clocks as when I installed it. I'm not sure what the stock clocks are supposed to be. Should I swap from HDMI to DVI and see if that makes a difference? Swapped anyways, Uninstalling and re-installing to make sure the game is doing what it should. All my other games push 60FPS+ except custom SC2 games (normal for them). Interestingly enough I can run at 1900x1200 on this card but it gets fuzzy so I don't. The panel is native to 1680x1050. Edited by Kaleliar - 16 Nov 2011 at 4:48pm |

Your clocks seems to be fine, I don't understand why that is happening, but then again I'm not familiar with the game myself.
at 30fps you would need another gpu to get to 50-60 fps. well make sure your shader and clock are linked and then take clock to 800Mhz and then run kombuster and hwmonitor, if kombustor passes fine and max temps are below 85c you got yourself a stable oc, from here go up only 10hz at a time, cause now you are getting close to high oces.
