Under $1k
Ask for a substitution to the HD3850. Should be about the same price as the 8600GTS. At this price range, AMD beats Intel.

So this is a great computer and I will be able to play most games? And what do you mean about the substitution?

I'm pretty sure he means to order over the phone or by email so you can get a component not on the default list. |

For the budget you have, it will be a kick-ass system.
Considering that most people consider the beginning of a "serious" gaming computer budget to be three times what you are looking to spend, "great" is a relative term. I shopped around a lot before buying here. I shopped the mass merchant brick and mortar establishments, and priced virtually every other builder online. I spent nowhere near that 3 thousand dollar threshold and my system blew me away.
With the introduction of the HD3850, you will have something I didn't: a mid-priced graphics card that can keep up with the big boys. Talk to DSO. See what they have to say. The number is toll-free in the US. The people there are friendly, professional, and courteous, and they get paid to make sure you are not just happy, but thrilled with your system. Give them a call, get a professional opinion, and make sure the person you talk to understands your budget limitation. Edited by Tyler Lowe - 25 Dec 2007 at 11:34pm |
