The 680m will put most likely an extended lead time on the build. If your willing to spend as much as that, why not go with the x17, stay with the 120gb SSD and add another hard drive. If its something you want quicker, id go with the 7970m, as its showing the same benchmarks as the 680, it can be OC'd (no one knows if the 680 will be able to OC at all), and the price difference vs performance is huge (if any performance gains). Also, the blu ray player does not come with play back software, so while it will read them, you will need something to play them with, since windows 7 does not support it.

Any idea about the battery life when nongaming?  And dimensions -- especially the weight?

you can find the weight and dimensions when you go to customize, more info on chassis. Its all under there. If you want to stick with the 15in, its still gonna be great, just no 2nd hard drive bay. You can solve that with an external if needed.

Yeah, I thought long and hard about the 17 but I need the 15 inch to travel with.  Thanks for your thoughts.  I am going to go with the 7970m per your recommendation.
