not sure but with a q9550 OCed, and 2 x gtx 260 I don't see why you would have any problems with it, it should be just as fast as your setup if not faster I think.

crate is an extra 250. you request it when you call to place your order.
each processor is different so I can't tell you a clock speed, the q9550 I have see here are around 3.2 or 3.4. but the ones we see here are a small number of their customers. you can go with 2 x gtx 280 if you like but the difference is very small, but the price will still be lower that your setup you have posted. look at the top of the chart here: you see how close the 2 x gtx 260 nad gtx 280 are. ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 26 Sep 2008 at 5:12pm |

19'' monitor? I would buy 1 280 GTX. SLI will prove to be not all that effective for a 19'' and you can always buy a 2nd card later, if you really feel you must.I would go with (very similar to DST):
the below is around $3100. The power supply may seem like a little overkill, but if you ever plan on buying a larger monitor and running SLI, you'll find it worth it.
Chassis: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 790i Ultra Core 2 Quad (nForce 790i Ultra SLI) (DDR3 Only) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz OCZ Platinum Edition Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (Extreme Speed) Hard Drive 2: - No Thanks Raid Option: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-ROM/CD-ROM (DVD Reader 16x / CD Reader 40x) Optical Drive 2: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Wireless Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 1GB (Includes PhysX Technology) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Liquid Chilled FrostBite CPU Only Internal Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Red Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) Modifications: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: Acer 19 inch (Widescreen) (Black Edition) (High-Value Display) Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Microsoft Multimedia Desktop 2.0 (Multimedia Keyboard + Optical Wheel Mouse) Mouse: - No Thanks my keyboard comes with a mouse External Storage: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty Edited by MarkNY - 26 Sep 2008 at 5:20pm |

MarkNY, the ram is not the same speed as the fsb.
if he wants 2 cards he needs the psu IMO. but you are right, I his monitor resolution is not 1680 x 1050 or higher then he only needs one gpu. he can find better price for monitor other places Edited by DST4ME - 26 Sep 2008 at 5:23pm |

p.s. in regards to your initial setup, I would not liquid chill the video cards and your cpu on one loop (I wouldn't even do it at all). Your system will run WAY too hot with two 280 GTX and CPU OCed. I would just liquid cool the CPU for a good OC and leave the video card(s) on air. That way, you can add/remove/upgrade video cards in the future very easily.
DST- I chose 1600 mhz RAM b/c when they OC his CPU, they will likely bring the FSB up to 400 (his CPU does not have an unlocked multiplier since it is not an extreme edition, right?) Edited by MarkNY - 26 Sep 2008 at 5:25pm |

Video cards are probably one of, if not the easier computer component to upgrade on your own, next to maybe RAM. A CSR at digitalstorm could easily walk you through the process (or you could find a guide online). |

@ will, Its very easy to add a GPU. DS phone support can help you, we can help you. its takes 2 seconds.
MarkNY, but that is a waste of ram, cause when no OC the extra speed can't be used but the price is much higher, it will not make a big enough difference in the q9550's OC speed. yes you are right this not an extreme chip. Edited by DST4ME - 26 Sep 2008 at 5:39pm |

go with mine but MarkNY has a good point, which I missed, if you resolution-is not at or over what we discussed go with one card, again your choice between 260 and 280 gtx, you should not see the difference.

no, my setup has a faster drive and a better case, go with mine, I'm telling you, check out our review section to see the HAF
like I said get your monitors and keyboard stuff from newegg you will find better prices. go with vista premium not ultimate. also if anything happens to your case during shipping you just send it back and they will fix it. Edited by DST4ME - 26 Sep 2008 at 8:31pm |

Hahaha! I'm certain now that you're getting kickbacks for the HAF DST... LOL!
![]() Seriously though, that HAF is one nice case. It is well engineered for cooling and usability. If you're truly concerned about shipping damage, you can talk with DSO over the phone and they can crate the box. Others have done this in the past, and the crate is solid! Extra charge for the crate of course. |
