Hi josvonmorgen....Not much you can do right now, unless you go for a full custom setup like the Apollo for example. DS isn't going to update the Vanquish line with the new Pascal, gtx 1070/1080, for some time is my understanding. Vanquish doesn't give you all the options of the other setups, hence the better pricing.

Not sure DS will allow no graphics card. Maybe , maybe not, I can't recall. If not, get the cheapest card they have and then swap it with your own gtx 1080. Easy enough to do and all the rest of the components are up to it for sure.

Should you do this, and it's not unreasonable, be aware that the GTX 1080 will not be covered by the DS warranty. You would probably be better served going with the Apollo or another configurable machine with the 1080.

I'm thinking you can order without a graphics card. As far as a warranty, Snaike is right, no DS coverage, but you do get the manufacturer's warranty, usually at least 3 years. You'd just have to do the leg work yourself with RMA which isn't bad at all.

Have you tried the Slade 2 models? They have the option for a 1070 or 1080. It would help greatly if we knew what your budget was for a new build.

It just doesn't make sense to me that the vanquish is for gaming and it doesn't have the option por the gtx1080, and the Apollo if you choose the gyx1080 the price goes up like crazy, what you you guys recommend me to do? If I'm buying a PC it needs to have the gtx 1080 the price is almost the same as the 980. What should I do

As of right now, we are focusing the VANQUISH on reduced pricing for the GTX 980 Ti for instance. If we add the GTX 1080, it will be far more expensive. Since the VANQUISH is a price-focused PC, we are not planning to offer the GTX 1080 on it.

Is there a particular reason the new build HAS to have a GTX 1080? I understand that its the newest and greatest thing. But the newest and greatest thing in video cards happens twice a year. Since the GTX1080 is new it is very expensive. If your new build requires one and your budget is $2000 its really going to defeat the purpose of having that nice card. It is going to eat up most of your budget for something (Video Card) that is usually the first thing replaced when upgrading a system later. With a Slade 2 if you drop the CPU to an i5 6500, you can get it for about 2000. https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1437360 Edited by Carpe_Cerevisi - 17 Jun 2016 at 11:47am |

You pic your gpu based on your needs for gpu power.
If your needs for gpu power now or in the next year call for power of a 1080/1080ti/titan then that is what you need. If you have no need for that much gpu power then you go with something lower that takes care of what you need. |
