Topic: Help With ~$6k Build Posted: 14 Sep 2020 at 1:51pm |
Hello Everybody,
I purchased a Bolt back in 2015 and I used it for a long time, and swapped out the original titan with a 1080ti. But I am ready to upgrade and am looking for some help. I chose a lot of Corsair products, but I heard that iCue is a real performance killer, does anybody know if that is true? The specs I chose below look good to me, but wanted to see if someone with some more experience could help. I chose the 3000mhz Ram as it would integrate with the rest of the corsair products, but the speed seems a little low to me. Also, does anyone know what happened to the Corsair AIO coolers? I did not see them as an option for the Velox. Budget: ~$6k Expectations: A machine that can give me about 7 years of top performance. I expect to have to replace the GPU to the new top of the line after about 3 or 4 years. Usage: 21:9 3440x1440 Gaming. I also have iCue, for keyboard, fans, ram lights, processor cooler. I have not had any problems or noticed any performance problems with mine since I received it in Jan this year.

Never heard any negative about iCue software before. That it could gimp any of this cutting edge processing is hilarious IMHO. You don't need or want to overclock the video card. it's performance is assured without making it run any hotter. Ram speed is a negligible factor in overall performance once you have enough of it for gaming. With all this over the top gear, it's curious to me you want a mechanical hard drive. No question I would want all SSD storage.

I've never heard of iCue causing performance issues. I know that having iCue and Corsair Link both installed on the same machine causes some major BSODs, but that's about it.
