Hell everyone,
So I'm pretty new to computers, not very familiar with hardware, but i am needing a new rig regardless, my old setup is toast. And through some serious penny-pinching i have a 2500$ budget on the computer, and needing to be pretty strict regarding that. Aside to that i have 300$ set aside for a monitor. Expectations: I'm just looking for a good setup that will run high/max settings for online games (RIFT/GW2) and best visual settings as i can for higher taxing games like Elder Scrolls V to be released soon. Special Needs: I've been reading a lot on SSD's andI like the thought on them, not sure how much the run in terms of pricing but it'd be cool to have I think. Also with a 2500 budget on the PC, is there an advantage of running two slightly lower GPU's with SLI or one awesome GPU??? Thank you for any help in advance!

Hi Avelict, welcome to the forum.
You need to select your monitor first. For $300 you can get an IPS in the 23/24 inch range with 1900x1080/1200 resolution. For that budget level and resolution your very best computer choice is the ODE-3. See the ODE-3 here. Frank ODE-3 ![]() Edited by FrankW - 28 Oct 2011 at 1:11pm |

Hey Avelict,
here's my build for you: 610267 Specs: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (New B3 Revision) (Does Not Support SLI) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1050W Corsair Pro Silver 1050HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Tech) (EVGA Edition) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Red) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty it costs $2516 plus shipping, which would be ~$65, if thats too much then you can cut one of the 570's and add it later. it doesnt have a SSD, but those dont really affect gameplay a whole lot, if you have your heart set on a SSD, we recommend the intel 320 series 120gb. for best air flow its recommended that you ask them to add an additional 200mm fan on the top of the case, it will cost another ~$20. also you could consider an ODE 3, the build above has better upgradeability and thus longevity, but if thats not your cup of tea then id consider the ODE 3. to answer your SLI question, the 570's or 580's are the best cards right now. which you want depends on your resolution, at 1900x1080 youre not going to see a difference between a 570 and a 580. at higher res 580's are better, and your going to want the higher Gb versions (3gb 580's, 2.5gb 570's). if you have one of those cards your going to be pretty happy, if you have two youre going to blow through just about anything. with this build im assuming that youre going to be gaming on a single monitor at 1900x1080. I personaly have sli 570's (1.5gb) at that res and love it. good luck! your going to love Digital Storm! |

Sneaky, I think you forgot to change the motherboard selection to one that supports SLI, like the Deluxe or Sabertooth.
Also, that build lacks a Blu-ray drive in addition to the SSD as compared to the ODE Level 3. Just sayin'. |

To better illustrate the cost savings of the ODE, I altered Sneaky's configuration to feature identical components to those found in the ODE Level 3, and the resulting price, as can be seen below, is much higher.
610294 Whether you would prefer the cost savings of the ODE Level 3 or the better PSU (among ever so slightly better components featured throughout the rest of the build) of the custom configuration is up to you. It really depends on how much you're willing to spend when it comes down to it. |

For that price range ode 3 is what you want, custom config will give you better parts like the psu/cpu cooler, case, mobo, etc but it will be out of your price range.
