Budget:
$2k-$2500 Expectations: The quieter the better Usage: 1080p(? see questions below) gaming with light video editing Special needs: I do need the Blu-Ray RW, I watch a lot of movies Saved Ticket #: 1514572 Questions/Concerns: 1. I'm currently running a DS Marauder which is in a Corsair Vengeance C70 with standard chassis fans, a GTX 970 Strix, and a Noctua NH-D14. It's pretty quiet as is, would my selected chassis + WC setup be quieter? 2. I've always been happy with gaming on 1080p, though I'm looking to buy a new monitor. Is 1440p worth the upgrade? Would I be able to go 1440p on a GTX 1070? If so, possible monitor recommendations? Thanks for any help! Edited by Mikeisonfire - 02 Nov 2016 at 9:53am |

Welcome to the forums!
From what I understand from the smart people that hang about around here, the GTX1070 really shines at 1080p. For anything bigger, you'd be better served with the GTX1080. |

That build looks pretty good to me. I would suggest a couple of changes.....
Swap the 750b1 power supply for the other 750watt for an additional $34. It's a gold vs bronze supply with better efficiency and double the warranty. Swap the HDD for a Western Digital Black, also a more reliable drive with longer warranty. Not sure what your getting with the DS branded SSD, but I'd get a Samsung or other name brand for knowing what you have and better warranty beyond the DS warranty. Like Snaike said, a gtx 1070 is all you need for 1080p monitor. A 1440p, which is a step up in gaming, a 1070 will play most games very good. A gtx 1080 would be ideal for all games and future needs over the next couple of years for over a 1080p. I still play on a 1080p and might move up in the future, but still happy with 1080p. Good luck. |
