Nice rig.
Core 2 is just a brand name. #2 stands for second iteration of the brand.
Quad means that its a 4-core CPU. So, Core 2 Quad Q9450 means that a CPU with a model Q9450 is a part of the second generation of Core 2 microarchitecture.
Hope this clarified it for you.
Also, I would recommend:
Get 790i Ultra SLI + DDR3
Get Corsair's 1000W PSU instead
Get Vista 32bit

I'd suggest upgrading to 64 now. I wish I would have ordered Vista 64 with my machine. |

PC Gamer magazine looked into a duel fan cooling system last month. Its suppose to be the best but its big and you have to install it above your mother board (so it cuts into either the hard drives or video cards. i was wondering what r u thoughts on it and are you guys going to put it in your systems.

I'm confused on which cooling system you're speaking of. Do you have a link to that article? Or possible brand/model of the cooling system.

That cooler is very effective. However, it's too big and heavy for shipping with computers.
Warm Regards,
Alex

Yeah it the Thermaltake DuOrb. its a figure 8 fan with 2 fans. Its horizontal so it might block the ram slots or the PCI express slots

The Thermaltake CPU DuOrb heatsink is decent but definitely no where near the best. It is designed to cover the entire top half of the motherboard to cool the CPU and ram.
Some motherboards with the big northbridge heatsinks won't be able to fit one of these and some cases might have issues as well because the heatsink is so close to the I/O plate. And you also are limited to standard ram heatsinks with this cooler. It doesn't block off any slots unless you installed it wrong... |

If you're willing to drop the cash on dual 8800GT's, I'd just go ahead and get the ULTRAs.

i would drop the 8800 gt x2 in a heartbeat for a single gx2 or at least a gtx if youre going to OC the CPU, youre best off to add the ram OC too unless you want a lot of unused power sitting in your case twiddling its thumbs
id also suggest going up to lightscribe opticals or asking DSO for some other SATA opticals, those IDE space hogs are a dead tech that take up way too much space, are hard to move or move around, and are quite the eyesore, even in rounded covering Edited by !ender_ - 11 Jun 2008 at 11:39pm |

Im mixed on the 98GX2 right now, after paying as much as i have for it, and looking at the current performance, id not recommend it. Though I must say ive only played Crysis so far the rest are just tests after I installed the games to make sure they work properly with V64. So my view is probably fairly slanted. Though I must say that a 98GX2 with all on high settings but with object quality on medium, the game is basically unplayable. (on 1200x900 btw) |
