Hello,

I don't know much about computers and i have just gotten a friend to install a SSD for me

OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706

He said he didn't do the firmware update but it's working just fine rite now (heck i'm typing this post as we speak)

So...

1. Should i / do i need to do a firmware update? I've read/heard some horror stories on this forum...so should i not mess with it unless it's broken?

2. I see a LOT of you tweak this and tweak that and then have programs to monitor certain things. My question is, can YOU give me a list of programs that I'll need to use to "monitor" things, so then i can take screenshots and show YOU so you can tell me if everyhting's good (for example, cpu fan speed/vid card fan speed, this "unigine heaven program" that i have no idea what it is.....

I've used something called real temp before but i was just confused as to what it is . I see that there is this "EVGA (motherboard) utiltiy and i used it and it shows this, what can i "interpret from it"?

3. I heard I shouldn't "benchmark" the SSD, is this true?

4. Should i use the newest firefox or the newest chrome?

P.S. My specs
  • Case: Cooler Master CM Storm Sniper
  • Processor: i7930 2.8 ghz (quad core)
  • Motherboard: EVGA X58 LE Edition SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports SLI or CrossFire)
  • 6 gb ram DDR 3 1600 MHZ Digigtal Storm certified
  • 1000w Corsair  Power supply (Dual/tri/quad SLI compatible)
  • Vid card : 1x ATI Radeon HD 5870 1 GB
  • Cooling: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 Extreme Performance
  • Overclocked to between 3.3 to 3.90
  • 500 gb  western digital regular hard drive
  • blue ray + dvd player , nothing extraordinary.
  • Win 7 64 bit
  • OCZ SSD 120 GB (just added)

Thank you!
