Helping a Friend.

Alright,
I am new to the forums, but I have been keeping a watchful eye upon them. I plan on getting a PC from here in about 5-6 months. In fact, I also have a buddy of mine that was thinking about getting one around the same time as me, and I told him about this site. Now like me we are both jonesing for a new rig. And we both are purchasing from here so a package deal. :D 

With that aside this post is not for myself, I know enough about computers to get me through for my own configurations, and I am still learning. What I need help with currently is helping yet another friend get a pc. Its mostly going to be for a household with light gaming if any, but they are looking for a price range around 500-700 including monitor/mouse/keyboard. Now with the configurations that are available I wasnt really able to go below 725, and that was not including the additional monitor/keyboard/mouse, which realistically they will probably order from elsewhere. Now the only reason I am coming here for theirs is because well I wanna make sure they get a good price for what they get. Their not looking for much but a new pc none the less. I wasnt too entirely sure of posting here for theirs but I figured wth right? But for them I haven't been to sure where to go, or if possibly you could help me find them a somewhere that they can get a pc more suited to their needs which I figure include:

Net Surfing
School
Ultra Light Gaming? lol...

Regardless if they get their pc from here or not I plan on getting mine come tax season, where everything willing I will have a $2500 budget. But for now I need help finding them a home pc at a decent price. Hopefully you can help! Which reading through the forums I know you can. More intelligent, or better educated, minds on here then myself. Though I am still learning. Anyways long story short I am looking around for them, and I refuse to go through Dell for them because I have one myself and I was jipped on the price I paid for it due to my own impatience and lack of knowledge at the time. Lol I feel stupid because I can pick a pc for myself, though I know what I am looking for for mine, but I cannot find one for them but their completely computer inept. Also I havent been sure if I should come here or just tell them to go to walmart, but I dont trust walmart with electronics so I am trying to do what research I can to help them get the best bang for their tight buck.

Any questions post em and I will answer based on what I can. I hope I didnt ramble to much I have been waiting to post on here and so much I want to ask but I am trying to contain that for when I build my pc spec. :D

I tried suggesting them to get a laptop but they said they wanted a desktop...When they first asked me to look for them I thought heh no problem. But upon doing research I didnt realize how difficult it would be to find them  a whole kit and kaboodle at their range. I have been getting to the point where I may just tell them to go to bestbuy or something at that range, but I feel like I am letting them down lol...

prebuilt pcs are bad for gamers and enthusiasts, but for someone who basically doesnt need more than a netbook.. with thatprice range.. there arent many other choices

Could ask to not install Windows to save some cash, but I don't think under $800 is possible with the keboard/mouse + monitor.

Get the monitor and mouse/keyboard locally will save on shipping and you have the warrenties.

send you friend here www.microcenter.com they should have things in his price range. honestly i got my hold me rig from there for about $600 2 years ago its holding up but obsolete
