I like the NVIDIA GPU's but I wanted the warm n' fuzzzy of Intel. Should I ever need to go to a multiple card in the future, I'm banking ATI will have something competetive ....
tried to get the best of both worlds (?) |

Im tempted to buy a 4870x2 to just try it out, but i figure why waste the money right now when i have 2 GTX 280s already, if anything id be slightly worse or par. The money can be spent better elsewere...i dunno where yet though...maybe a new motherboard, or maybe just put it in savings....oh wait my bank died...so i guess under the mattress... |

LOL .. thanx .. and I hear ya on the 4870x2 ... I almost did it but I wanted to keep the initial cost under 25 if possible ... I think I can get enough out of the X48 to give the 260 room to spread too. Thought about the 280 too but ($$$). I'm looking to break everything in on FarCry 2 ... should get the new rig around the same time as release |

That 4870X2 got great performance reviews too ... should be a great deal putting 2 of those bad boys in choir together in a year or so at a nice price (QUAD Xfire !!)

If they can get the drivers fixed so that Crossfire X 4 is actually better than Crossfire X 2, yeah, it sounds great.
Oh, and I won't ask what sort of Oder was placed. Edited by Tyler Lowe - 03 Oct 2008 at 11:30pm |

I'm happy to be a member here and I plan on continuing to both contribute if I can and learn/ask/discuss. Really great forum. Thanks to all of you here and at DS sales phones, who answered all of my questions, sporadically the past month or so. |

After seeing the Rampage x48 and reading how much user friendly software comes installed with it .. I made up my find to still go with Nvidia, and forgo the SLI ..... if anyone has not checked this board out, you really really should read up on it .. it even has a Windows interface for OC'ing ... lots of other stuff that might be eye candy but very very useful to the Oc'er.

Agreed ... I had to do some catching up since I built my last rig over 4 years ago and have only since upgraded my GPU. So its all sort of new for me ...
I don't think I could go cutting edge with the x58 for $$ restrictions.
Thanks for the update !

well the new chip is gonna cost less so actually prices you pay now should be the same you would pay for the new ones, but that does mean the prices of the current should drop also.
but enjoy your build, cause in a few years when you are done with this one, what ever is out is gonna kill the new chip core i7 (Nehalem)
