Hi everybody! Just wanted to see how things were here, I've been gone a while, I get pretty busy with work quiet often. Came back to say that I'm thinking about getting another computer! Well, a desktop this time. I currently have a Krypton notebook, I've had it for about 8 months now, and I couldn't be happier. Had to ask you guys what your thoughts were, I'm torn between the Bolt, Eclipse, or the Apollo. Probably my 3 favorite models (in my price range) and I was hoping I could get some advice or just stories on how much other people like them! I've had a long day, so I apologize if this post makes no sense, but I hope you understand. Thanks all! I'll try and be more active here, I do miss the community.

Also, I guess I forgot to mention I'm torn between building another one of my own. I want to because it's just so much fun, but I love the computers I can get from here as well... I don't know what to do!...

![]() j/k ![]() It seems on the DS forums that I'm the "laptop guy," so unfortunately I can't offer any advice on a desktop system, but there are plenty who can. Glad to hear your Krypton is working great for you. ![]() |

First choice has to be case size.
They can be configured about the same. The Apollo being the big case would probably have more options in upgrading. |

Hi joewukasch,
If you provide us with your budget and your expectations we can give you a great build. The Apollo case is big but not the biggest. It has good cooling and the SSDs are mounted behind the motherboard. You can get air or liquid cooling. The Bolt is much more compact and is a very specialized case. If space is a problem the Bolt is a good choice but it can be expensive. There is some neat engineering behind the Bolt if you like the case. It is less easy to upgrade and your options to upgrade are limited. Your options are unlimited with Digital Storm and we need to know more about what you have in mind. In regards to building your own. It can be fun and can save you some money. It can also be a pain in the neck and expensive if you have problems and can't fix them your self. There is no worse feeling for a builder to turn on his new computer and it doesn't work. Frank Edited by FrankW - 08 May 2015 at 2:02pm |

Tell me abt the turn it on and it doesn't work---which is what I went through with my last self built. Took an entire day of "bread-boarding" to figure out that the Asus MOBO would just NOT run any graphics card but an ancient one without a BIOS upgrade. That along with wanting a pro looking wiring job and the matter I hadn't dealt with open loop water cooling before---went with DS and couldn't be happier.

Hey Joe. Like Frank was saying, it really just depends on what you need it to do. Haha and yeah, there's nothing worse than finishing a build that won't POST. Actually, if you're not in a major hurry and you think it'd be helpful, I'm going to do an Apollo review in about a week or so that I'll post up on the forum. Either way, good luck! As you know, it's a pretty good community here. I just recently started frequenting the forum and all of these guys have been super helpful.

Actually I'm in no hurry at all, I feel like my Krypton will last me for a bit longer as I've only had it for a few months... I just like to do my research when it comes to building/buying a computer. Call me picky, but it helps. And I am absolutely in love with the Bolt case, it's very astheticly pleasing, that's why I'm pushing harder in that direction. Still, it's gonna be a little while before I make any other purchases. I'd love to hear some more reviews on the other systems though, it may help me change my mind

Hi joewukasch,
When you are ready, start a post in the Configuration Forum with your budget, resolution and how you intend to use your computer. Frank |

Hey Joe, welcome to the forums. If you really want to read reviews on other DS systems than you came to the right place. Here on the Forums page there is a "Customer Reviews" section that has reviews by all of us forum members who have purchased DS computers. I think all available models are reviewed. (With the exception on the new Bolt 3 because none have been shipped yet.) Many, if not most, have pictures of the receiving, un-boxing, setup, and first impressions of their new DS computers. Some even have made YouTube videos. Some reviews have been updated 1, 2, 6 months or even a year or two later to inform everyone how their DS computer is performing. These reviews by real customers of DS are very helpful to help you pick the right components for your build. Hope this helps. Good luck. ![]() |

Performance matters. Non-Performance is not an option.

I've had my system since December of 2012 (ordered late 2012 but finally was able to turn it on in February 2013, i didn't have the correct peripherals) and it's been running flawlessly even though i had a minor hiccup with a game when i first got it that caused me to reinstall windows but after i did the game worked. Here are pictures of when i got the rig: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/pictures-of-my-rig-captain-sirius-black-tidf19410-pnf1/ |
