I have been having problems with my pc restarting; almost like the power went out. It restarts and brings up the menu saying "would you like to run windows normally" or something in that nature.

The problem occurs when I try to play almost any game, so far the only one that does not restart it for me is league of legends.

My pc restarts in mid game of Diablo 3 and this is recent; I did not always have this issue.

My computer is not overheating I checked with multiple temperature checks.

In my event viewer there is this Critical Error happening saying something about Kernel-Power 41.

Ive tried many things for many days; I don't know what else to do!

Help please!

I get the feeling that it might be a faulty PSU, which might explain why gaming seems to trigger it. You should probably wait for someone like bpratt, xii, or Tixgdor to back that up, because I am not sure.

Orange7 could certainly be right.   I believe that Kernal 41 error is because the pc wasn't shutdown properly or lost power.  Its an after the problem code.

Don't know what you have but if you're plugged into a strip, etc, then plug pc directly into the wall socket to see if it helps.

If you have a mobo with integrated video then remove your video card and plug monitor into the mobo's DVI, Hdmi plug to help isolate the problem.

Unplug anything external except monitor, keyboard and see.

Plug a lamp into the same outlet as the pc and see if lamp flickers or dies at the same time.

Try a different power chord if you can.

It can be so many things it really is tough to say.     Good Luck.

I have a Gtx 560 Ti, and I'm looking on this motherboard and I don't see a connection for the monitor. But the card has 2 different slots to plug in the monitor from. I'm going to try the other one, I don't know if it will help.

I also noticed that I had a skinnier power cable from the computer and I found a more girthy one that came with the computer. I might have plugged in the wrong one, even though the one before was working before

The computer is not restarting as often now I think when I play Diablo, but it still restarts when I party with people and they get all crazy with their skills

I have a lot of other errors in the event viewer that might be leading to the problem; I don't know if its normal it have this many.
But I can post them if needed.

Im going to try the lamp test you mentioned, Ill reply back later!

I went to the trouble shoot page and I fall under the category of my pc crashing in multiple games and Ive already tried installing new drivers and going back to older versions! I tried disabling my sound card and nothing works so far. Im thinking it might be my power supply

If your pc has a single video card then the 750w should be more than enough.   Without knowing your config its tough to say but even a 650w with a better name like Corsair and Seasonic might do it.

When using a power cord that is to small for the amount of power required by whatever is drawing it...whether it's a drill motor or a power supply, the added resistance will decrease the available power to the unit. In short, that inadequate cord was causing your power supply to work harder to keep the voltages up in your machine. Over time that will cause the unit to fail.

I would blow out the dust in the power supply which will causse it to run hot and also look for bulging or leaking capacitors on the mobo. Also reset all the cables from the PSU to the mobo. If you were running the cables hot, resetting them may lower the resistance enough to stop those remaining reboots.

edit: trying to fix the quote

alright guys, I think I figured out the issue. Im pretty certain it was my sound card I have a creative x fi titanium professional.

I have in my device manager a list of high def audio drivers on top of my creative sound card driver which I think were conflicting. I turned them all off and the problem remained but It would take longer for it to restart..

Earlier today I completely removed the sound card and now things seem to be working a lot better. Im going to delete my sound drivers in safe mode and reinstall with the original drivers from the cd you guys sent me and see if a newer version of the software was causing the issues.

Thanks so much for your time and attention, I will post back later with more findings!

pc is still restarting, just not as often, so im back thinking its the psu i will check what you guys posted
